Welcome to the Library!

My name is Melissa Martin and I am the school media specialist (librarian). I am excited to start this school year. This is my 20th year teaching in Wilkes County Schools. At the beginning of my career I was a Teachers Assistant at East Wilkes High School for a year and a half while obtaining my teaching degree. I received a teaching job at Ronda-Clingman and I taught Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades there for 15 years. This will be my 4th year at Wilkesboro. I look forward to seeing all of you all and hearing about the awesome books you read over the summer and sharing some of my favorite books with you this year in the library.

I am excited about sharing lots of new books with you as well as some new things that will be going on throughout the year. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Growing up I attended Jonesville Elementary, Kindergarten through 5th grade, Ronda-Clingman Elementary, 6th grade through 8th grade and graduated from East Wilkes High School. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lees-McRae College and I earned my Master in Library Science from East Carolina University, GO Pirates!

Family is very important to me! My husband, Sandy and I have been married for 34 years and we have been blessed with two wonderful children, Kayla and Kyle who is married to our wonderful Daughter in Love, Lauren. We have one fur baby, Zeke who is our entertainment everyday. 🐾

We live in Ronda on a small farm and enjoy spending time together, camping and traveling.
