News in a Nutshell #3

We want to thank all of our amazing Oak Ridge families for their support for our Run of Champions Fun Run event! We ordered up some great fall weather and had an amazing time cheering on our students as they had a blast during the Fun Run! We are thrilled to have surpassed our goal of $30,000 to support our amazing Oak Ridge community! Read on to learn more about the success of the Fun Run and about upcoming events this month!

Our next Home & School meeting is on Tuesday, November 12 at 7 PM in the Oak Ridge library! As always, all parents/guardians are welcome to attend.

The Halloween Parade will be held at 1:30 PM, followed by classroom socials from 2:00 - 3:00 PM. Please note that only volunteers may attend the socials. All leads and volunteers have been contacted. If you're interested in volunteering, please email orhomeroomparent@gmail.com.

Join us for BINGO Night on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Oak Ridge gymnasium! This free event includes snacks and fun prizes for students. All children must be accompanied by an adult (no drop-offs).

We’re also collecting donations for the Keystone Opportunity Center and signing out Oakie's Caring Hearts Thanksgiving Food Bags during the event. No pre-registration needed. We hope to see you there!

On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, join us for Painting with a Purpose at Painting with a Twist in Skippack! Cost is $40 per student, and all proceeds go to Oakie’s Caring Hearts. This is a drop-off event, but we’d love a few parents to stay and help.

Stop by the Walmart in Harleysville on Saturday, November 9 between 10 AM and 2 PM. Buy some yummy treats at the bake sale to support their fundraising for their Harrisburg field trip! Hope to see you there! See the attachment below for more information!

Oak Ridge Elementary's Home and School is selling Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and 76ers T-shirts and Hoodies just in time for the holiday season. These items would make a wonderful gift for yourself or others! All proceeds will support Oak Ridge's Home and School. All orders and payment are due by Tuesday, November 12. Orders will be ready for pick-up no later than December 18. Please see the flyer for more information about this fundraiser! Click here for the order form (or it is also linked below).

Thank you to our entire Oak Ridge community for a successful fundraiser, the Run of Champions! After expenses we made $38,000! This will help us continue to sponsor the wonderful events for our Oak Ridge community.

As a reminder, we are a 501(c)3 and accept company matches. Your fun run donations are eligible for company match and my be tax deductible (where eligible).

We also received a commission of $174 from spirit wear sales.

We used H&S funds to support our fall after school rec with supplies and October appreciation gifts for the Oak Ridge staff.

We would like to thank everyone for continuing to use Box Tops. We are nearing $700 raised and intend to use those funds to replace broken playground equipment. Keep up the great work!

We had fun with Afterschool Rec over the past few weeks! We look forward to the next one in the new year! See you in 2025!

Jump rope club has started!! Please sign up to turn the ropes while the kids jump during their lunch recesses. Kindergarten through second grade is from 10:30 to 11:30. Third graders through fifth graders jump from 11:30 to 12:30. We need at two volunteers per hour to have it! Thank you!!!

Our annual Holiday Shoppe is quickly approaching. This year it will be held the week of December 2nd. Watch for more details soon! For now, we would love if you could start saving any reusable shopping bags or sturdy paper bags with handles (think Giant direct) that you can donate for the kids to carry their purchases home in. A collection box will be placed in the main lobby on 11/18. You can send them in with your student or you can bring them in when you come for Parent Teacher conferences the week of Thanksgiving break. Thanks for your help!

Our Yearbook coordinator, Ashley Bilotti, is always looking for your photos to enhance the yearbook. Please send in your photos from the Fun Run and other events to orelemyearbook@gmail.com. Your photos help make our yearbook amazing!

October has been an exciting month for Box Tops for Education! We celebrated National

Box Tops week with double box tops and a raffle basket giveaway. We have earned $237.50 so far this month!!

Each new account created through 10/31 will earn Oak Ridge Elementary $10. All you need is the app, our referral code, your email address, and scan a receipt dated within the last 14 days. Any receipt will work. The first receipt scanned does not need a box tops item. Oak Ridge receives the $10 after the first receipt is scanned.

Don’t forget to join the monthly challenge in November. This will help earn an additional $2.00 after you purchase 10 box tops items. Click “join the challenge” before you shop or scan so every box tops item is counted. Box Tops funds are being used for Recess and Playground Equipment. Thanks again for your support!
