Wednesday September 25th: Early Dismissal 1:30 p.m.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, we wanted to provide additional clarity of the the options made available for families in obtaining school supplies for your child. Earlier this week the United Way provided confirmation they secured enough school supply donations to outfit each student with the supplies outlined in the their flyer below. Families will still be responsible for cross checking their child's grade level supply list and getting the materials not included in the United Way school supply donation drive. I have included the flyer below as well as the link to the school supply lists

1st Day School Supplies: Parents who had purchased their supplies back in the spring through 1st Day School Supplies will have their supplies delivered to their child's classroom prior to the start of classes. Next school year this option will be available again, however the list will only include items not provided by the United Way. We were unable to make this modification prior to this year, as United Way had not confirmed exact items which it would be receiving donations on until early July.

United Way: Free supplies that are outlined in the flyer below will be provided for all students from the United Way School Supply Donation Drive. There are some supplies specific to our building that will not be covered through this drive and will need to be purchased by the families of our students. School supply lists for the upcoming school year can be accessed by clicking here. The DeWitt Referral Center can also be a resource for families to obtain Items not covered by United Way through this drive. The United Way will be dropping these items off at our building prior to the start of school and will be ready for students at the start of school.

Purchase at a Store of Your Choice: If you prefer to select and purchase your child's school supplies independently, you are welcome to do so. Lists of required supplies for each grade level will be available on our school website by clicking here for your reference. We hope these options provide flexibility and convenience for your family.

Families do not need to contact anyone regarding which option they have chosen for their child's school supplies for the upcoming school year.

Additional information for how to contribute to the mission and vision of our school's PTO will be shared out at a later date. In the meantime you can find future meeting dates and involvement opportunities in future building newsletters, and check them out on Facebook.

We will resume the practice of collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City here at Ekstrand. More information will be shared at a later date with additional information regarding this.
