What You Need to Know for This Week:
Parent/Teacher Connection
Thank you to all of our parents and guardians who attended winter conferences January 23 & 24.
We encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher if you were unable to attend the parent-teacher conference. Staying connected with teachers is such a valuable way to stay informed about your child’s progress, strengths, and areas where they may need extra support. Parent involvement plays a key role in helping students succeed and thrive, and we’re here to work together to provide the best experience for your child.

Course Registrations for 2025-26 Close in One Week
If you have not already done so, please be sure to visit the AVHS registration website and our 2025-26 Course Registration Guide. The registration window for next year's classes will close on Monday, February 3 at 11:59 pm. Students will have one more opportunity to meet with counselors during Eagle Time on Wednesday, January 29th to ask questions and get one-on-one help.
Meaningful Minimum: Take This Timely Step!
🚨This week’s action: Ensure your child’s safety by updating your emergency contact information in our student information system. Double-check that anyone authorized to pick up your child is listed as an emergency contact.
The safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors is top priority. Our district has a dedicated Emergency Response Team and each school has its own Building Emergency Response Team. We use a Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Method from the “I Love U Guys” Foundation. In the event of an emergency, families will receive communication via text, phone and email.
By doing this small but meaningful task, you’re helping us keep your child safe and ensuring a smooth process in case of emergencies. If you can't access your account, submit a request for tech help. Thank you for partnering with us!
Apple Valley High School Theater Presents: An Evening of One Acts 🎭 January 24
A Night Under the Stars by Tracy Wells, Non Competition One Act
A NIGHT UNDER THE STARS: The great outdoors…for some this is a place of peace and tranquility and for others it’s…well…a little messy. A Night Under the Stars is a story about people—people looking to get away from it all, people looking to connect…with nature, with one another, and with the undeniable human spirit that overcomes obstacles, no matter what is thrown our way.
Antigone NOW by Melissa Cooper, MSHSL Competition One Act
ANTIGONE NOW: In the midst of a bombed-out city still feeling the aftershocks of war, the rebellious and intense Antigone defies her uncle to bury her disgraced brother. This contemporary response to the myth of Antigone brings powerful, modern prose to an ancient and universal story.

Senior Titus Scott, a former Southview student, has been hard at work earning his Eagle Scout award. Titus and his team planned, gathered supplies, constructed, painted, and installed a “Buddy Bench” at Southview Elementary. Important ACT Prep Meeting For Juniors Monday, January 13
The ACT exam is an important exam for college admission. The ACT exam will be administered this spring on April 15. To help students prepare for the ACT AVHS teacher Cheryl Donely, will present information to all juniors on Monday, January 13 during advisory. This is an important presentation for your student to attend.
PARENTS OF JUNIORS: AVHS: ACT Study Plan for the April 15 Test
AVHS will administer the ACT for all students in Grade 11 on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. This test is offered through ACT’s “State and District Testing” program. This means that all Grade 11 students are automatically registered for the exam and that there is no cost to students for the test. Taking the ACT on April 15 is encouraged but is not required.
We are committed to a successful ACT testing experience for our students. We offer a series of resources and study materials and put them together on a study schedule geared toward April 15.
