EJMS Jaguar Weekly Aug. 19 - 23
Keeping our School Community in the Know
From Principal Pickerill's Pen
EJMS Families,
We have continued to have a wonderful start to the school year and are now eight days through the school year. We began the first three days by reteaching expectations and teachers have continued teaching those throughout this full week of school. I wanted to share some information so families can help support these expectations.
Morning drop off - reminder that the front doors do not open until 8:30 AM and we do not have any adults supervising students until that time when they enter the building.
Arrival - students need to get breakfast from the carts as soon as they arrive at school. They will go to their locker and restroom as needed, get their Chromebook from their 7th period teacherโs cart, and then report directly to Homeroom. Students should stay in their homeroom class and not roam the hallways.
Lockers - students may use their lockers in the morning, during lunch transition if they need to get their lunch bag, and then at the end of the day. At any other point during the day they need to ask permission from a teacher to use their locker.
Electronic devices - cell phones, air pods/earbuds/headphones, and smartwatches (when used for anything other than telling the time) are all considered electronics and are not to be used during the day. Beginning at 8:40 they are to be put away and not used. If a student chooses to use an electronic device the device will be confiscated and turned into the office for a parent to pick up.
Dress code - all clothing must cover your body parts (no crop tops or volleyball shorts are allowed). Hats and hoods are not allowed inside the building at any time.

Back to School Block Party (EJMS version of Open House) - Wednesday, September 4th
We had originally shared 9/3/24 as the date, but we wanted to avoid a conflict with girls basketball playing against West Middle. So, on Tuesday you can cheer on our Jaguars at West and then we hope you can join us on Wednesday, September 4th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM for the Back to School Block party (EJMS version of Open House)! We will have food available (thank you to our PTO to provide this free for everyone who attends) and the opportunity to meet your childโs teachers and get important information for families. We also hope to make this a social event with games, activities, and a food truck. Feel free to come anytime during the two hour window. It will be very informal, but a great chance to put a face with your childโs teachers and hang out with other families.
