From the Principal.... Matt Clark
Good afternoon parents and guardians and welcome to February spring! It’s been so refreshing to see PE classes outside this week and to have students entering and exiting the building in great spirits thanks in part to the sunshine and mild temperatures. This has provided a welcomed boost for what are usually some of the most difficult weeks of the school year.
With that, as we continue to move through the last of the winter weeks, please continue to talk with your child about being a great student, peer, and human being. Having just celebrated HOPE week last week, there are still decorations and positive affirmations throughout the building reminding students to do the same here at Thompson. In addition, this will be a big component of John Halligan’s message to students next week.
I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!
Dr. Matt Clark
Principal
FYI...
Effective Monday, February 26, 2024 a new attendance code "XT" will be available for use. "XT" will represent "extended tardy" as defined as: any tardy to class 6 minutes or more.

Please Complete the Illinois 5 Essentials Survey
Dear TMS Parents and Guardians:
This is a follow-up to the email I sent about the IL 5 Essentials Survey...this data is important for our growth. We only have 141 surveys completed and I need about 200 more for the survey to be valid. Can you help me?
This survey only takes about 10 minutes to complete!
Here is the link to the survey. It is in Spanish and English.
Please be sure to put in Kane County as our county so you can find Thompson. Also, please read the questions and possible answers carefully as they sometimes mix up the "importance" of the responses.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Matt
Congrats, Emmett! Good luck on March 20th!
Congratulations to 8th grade student, Emmett Rigertas, who competed in the Kane County Spelling Bee semi-finals this week and made it to the final! Good luck on March 20th!
Join TMS WEB!
Thompson is looking for 7th graders who are interested in becoming the leaders of tomorrow. The WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) program is looking for students who take initiative, are collaborative, responsible, and kind to mentor the incoming 6th-grade class for the 24-25 school year. Attached is more information about being a WEB leader and how to apply.
Applications can be picked up in the LRC (or printed here) and are due back in the LRC by March 8 at 3:40. No late applications will be accepted.
D303 Boundary Updates
The District 303 Board has approved boundary maps for elementary, middle, and high schools. Maps are effective with the 2024-2025 school year beginning this fall. The Board's decision completes a process that began last fall to reduce school overcrowding and help to ensure equitable learning experiences across the District. District 303 had contracted with demographer RSP & Associates to create concept maps based on Board-approved guiding principles and community feedback. Please see the parent notice from Superintendent Gordon to learn more and review the approved maps.
