The Great Kindness Challenge
Reynolds School participated in The Great Kindness Challenge this month. It kicked off with a heartwarming January Rocket Day. The entire school, both students and staff alike, actively engaged in the celebration, sharing inspiring examples of numerous acts of kindness taking place throughout the school building. To foster a culture of kindness, each student received a board that provided ideas for spreading positivity and generosity within the school community and beyond.
In an effort to promote collaboration and unity, each class at Reynolds School paired up with another grade level to plan and execute a surprise act of kindness for someone within the building. This collaboration not only reinforced the importance of working together, but also created a ripple effect of kindness. The Great Kindness Challenge at Reynolds School was a wonderful way to promote community and compassion!
World Read Aloud Week- One School, One Book!
With the One School, One Book program, we aim to build a community of readers at Reynolds School. Everyone – students, teachers, even administrative staff – will be participating, and we can all reap the many benefits. Every family will receive a copy of the same book and a reading schedule for the week. Please make the time so your family can participate in this special activity. Reading aloud at home is valuable because it better prepares your child to be an effective reader. But it is also a fun, worthwhile family activity.

Theatre Week Performances- February 15th
Our Theatre Week Performances will take place on Thursday, February 15th. The children have been rehearsing for "The Ballad of Goodbye Gulch" and will take the stage for a school assembly as well as an evening performance at 7:00 pm in Cavallini Auditorium. Wishing our students the best of luck!
Your Story Matters
Mrs. King's class is taking part in a project called "Your Story Matters." Students and families are invited to choose a book that represents their child's "story" and celebrates their diversity in one way or another. The class began by learning about the Indian holiday "Holi." The children are so excited to learn more about their friends!
Counseling Corner
During January’s Guidance Lesson students focused on the concept of “big feelings” and emotional regulation. Students identified big reactions that they sometimes experience when feeling sadness, anger, worry, and excitement. We identified who they like to seek out when they need someone to talk to and ways to regulate big feelings to get grounded and calm. Students learned the Hot Cocoa Breath as an easy calming strategy that can be used anytime, anywhere. Ask your child to demonstrate this fun technique at home!
