December 9, 2024
January marks annual School Board Recognition Month, a time to honor the dedicated service and volunteerism of the Board of Education members. Their commitment to shaping the future of education is deeply appreciated, as their efforts uphold and enhance the district's standards of excellence.
Decisions made behind the scenes often profoundly impact students, educators, and families, laying the foundation for brighter futures. This celebration serves as a reminder of the vital role Board members play in our community and in the lives of young learners.

A new bridge now connects the District Office to Piper Prairie Elementary's rally point, Fire Station #8, thanks to the efforts of Jake Janes, a Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer and BPU lineman. After learning about the need for a safer crossing during a visit to the station, Jake and his BPU crew placed wooden poles across the creek in late November, with plans to add handrails and planks for improved safety. Thank you, Jake, for going above and beyond to support our students and their safety!
This holiday season, Piper’s Mental Health and Special Education teams, along with building leads, supported 31 families and provided gifts to 85 children. Christina Baggs, Amy Bartlow, and Anne-Marie Duke identified families in need, while Megan Riggs, Lisa DeVries, and Jen Fogleman led giving efforts at Piper Prairie and Creek. This marks the first year solely supporting Piper families, making it the largest drive yet. Thank you to this incredible team and the generous Piper staff for making the season brighter! The January Classified Staff Hype Squad Award goes to Sarah Jo Ward, Secretary at Piper Middle School. Her nominator said, "Sarah Jo always has a smile on her face. She is the type of person who goes above and beyond even when it isn't even required. We are beyond lucky to have her at the middle school! Sarah Jo is accompanied by her principal, Mr. Tim Leffert.
