The Slicer Chronicles
Kesling Intermediate School - April 2025
Principal's Corner
Dear Kesling Parents and Students:
We hope everyone had a relaxing Spring Break. Yesterday was the first day of the 4th nine-week
grading period. The great thing about the start of a new grading period is it is another opportunity
for all students to start fresh and to finish the year on a great note. As a reminder, we will be
ILEARN testing starting April 15, 2025. The testing schedule for the campus will be as follows:
Tuesday, April 15, 2025
Wednesday, April 16, 2025
Tuesday, April 22, 2025
Wednesday, April 23, 2025
Thursday, April 24, 2025 (Only 5th and 6th Grade)
During this time, it is extremely important that all students are in attendance and that all students
do their personal best. We are confident that our students will excel on the test.
We continue to prepare for the transition to the 2025-2026 academic year. All information
regarding scheduling has been sent out to current parents and students in grades 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Students entering grade 7 and grade 8 will be choosing elective choices for the 25-26 school year
on April 7 and April 8 (Grade 6) and April 9 and April 10 (Grade 7). Then, over the next several
months, we will be working on balancing classes and making sure students are appropriately
placed to help all students find success in school. Final student schedules will not be available
until August 2025.
It was awesome to see parents and students at the intermediate school “Cabin Fever/STEM Night” on March 6, 2025. We also look forward to seeing parents and students at the LPMS Showcase
Event on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Finally, we are looking forward to the Spring Musical
that will take place on April 11, April 12, and April 13. On Thursday, April 17, 2025, the
cast will be performing for students at grade level assemblies. This year’s performance is
Alice in Wonderland Junior.
As a reminder, Friday, April 18, 2025 there will be no school for students or staff and schools
will be closed in observance of Good Friday. We hope everyone continues to visit the school
web pages and frequently visit our Facebook pages. Please do not hesitate to contact a staff
member at Kesling if you need any assistance regarding the growth and achievement of your
child.
Sincerely,
Bill Wilmsen

Breakfast
Breakfast is served daily to students at no cost. If students need or want breakfast please go to cafeteria in the morning.
STEM
Thank you to all who donated items for Engineer's Week March 3-7. The students were busy all week designing and engineering in their classes. Check out the school's Facebook pages for photos!
Thanks to all who came out to Cabin Fever and found our STEM area. We were so busy at our stations and saw a LOT of smiling faces! We can't wait for next year.
Mrs. Hancock is looking for community members and business owners to come in for a "Lunch and Learn." If you can contribute knowledge, information, or just get students interested in your career, contact Amy Hancock at the Kesling Campus, ahancock@lpcsc.k12.in.us. This would take about 2 hours of your time to share a presentation with students during lunch.
Drama Club
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable experience! Alice in Wonderland Jr. is set to take the stage at Kesling on April 11th, 12th, and 13th. This enchanting musical will transport you to the magical world of Wonderland, filled with quirky characters, dazzling costumes, and a story that’s sure to captivate audiences of all ages. Follow Alice as she ventures through a fantastical land, meeting the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and many more beloved characters.
Don’t miss out on the adventure! Join us at Kesling, April 11th weekend, for a show you’ll never forget.
Academics - Chromebooks
Students are coming to class with chromebooks not charged. We do not have enough outlets in classrooms nor chargers to accommodate charging during class time. The chromebooks are to be charged nightly and ready to go for class. Parents if you could please help and remind your student of this!

Final Food for Thought
Final Food for Thought…
As we start the last quarter of the school year, I wanted to share the following with all parents
as we continue to encourage all of our students to finish the year successfully.
Personally, it is hard to believe that I now have a children ages 27, 25, and 19.
It just seems like yesterday that we brought our oldest home for the first night.
Over the years and to this day, we continuously remind our children the power that they have each
day over their life and the importance of the concept of perseverance.
As I have said numerous times over the years, parenthood is the hardest thing that we do in our lives; yet, it is most rewarding and it is priceless.
Please continue to appreciate the gifts that we have in our children. We hope you have an awesome
April...Mr. Wilmsen
The Person Who Can Help You
A man who was down on his luck visited an old woman who was rumored to have
traveled the world, have studied under great masters, and be wise beyond her years. If
anyone could help him turn his life around, she could, he thought.
When she invited him into her home, he crossed the threshold with his hat in
hand, head bowed, and shoulders curled forward. She asked about his troubles, and he
told her one sad tale after another of things gone wrong, with his gaze fixed on the floor.
After listening to the man, the old women told him she could not help him, but
knew someone could. She explained that this person was also visiting her that day and
was in the next room. She offered to make an introduction and suggested the man stand
to his feet, square his shoulders, lift his chin and his gaze, and take a deep breath. His life
was about to change.
The old woman motioned for the man to open the door and what the man saw
caused him to gasp. In the room was a full-length mirror reflecting the man’s image back
to him.
You must come to terms with the reality that nothing outside ourselves, be it
people or things, is actually responsible for our happiness. – Mary Edwards Walker
