Silver Firs Monthly Newsletter
October 2024
Message from the Principal
Hello Silver Firs Families!
Our Jaguars are settling into the new school year with enthusiasm and joy. October is upon us, and we have some exciting news and important updates to share with you.
Fall Festivities:
As the leaves change color and the air becomes crisp, we have some wonderful fall festivities planned for our students and families. Keep an eye out for our annual Raise Craze Fundraiser and Trunk or Treat event hosted by our fantastic PTA.
October 11 Non- Student Day: A reminder this is a non-student day. Our staff will be engaging in professional development focused on Social Emotional Learning (SEL). SEL is an essential part of our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. By investing in these practices, we aim to continue enhancing the emotional well-being and academic success of your student.
Parent-Teacher Conferences:
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held over two full days, November 4th – 5th. Monday, November 4th, will be the late night for families needing to schedule a conference in the evening. This is an excellent opportunity to discuss your student’s progress and get to know their teacher better. Sign-up information and scheduling details will be sent out soon.
Community Engagement:
We invite you to get involved in our school community. If you’re interested in volunteering or have suggestions for upcoming events, please reach out to our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)
and/or attend one of the general meetings.
Safety Reminders:
As the days get shorter, please remind your student(s) to be extra cautious while walking or biking to and from school. Also, ensure they wear a bike helmet and appropriate clothing for the changing weather. A friendly reminder, if you drop your student off in the mornings, please note our supervision staff starts at 9am. For your student’s safety, please do not drop them off prior to 9am.
We are excited about the opportunities October brings for our students to learn, grow, and have fun. Thank you for your ongoing support!
Warmest Regards,
Aleta Smoot, Principal

Meet our Counselor
Hi Jaguar Families,
I’m Hannah Sands, your new school counselor. I am excited to join the Silver Firs family and get to know your students. A little about me, this is my 9th year as a school counselor in Everett Public Schools. I’m a native Washingtonian from Winthrop and outside of school I enjoy baking and kayaking. This year I will be supporting your students by joining classrooms to teach bullying prevention and personal safety lessons, running small groups on various topics and meeting with students individually as needed. Please reach out to me if I can be of any support.
