New Beginnings Class Newsletter
For the Week of 2/9
What We Worked On
Read Aloud- We began our unit on Friendship today. We read the stories "The Nightengale," "Skidamirink I Love You," and "Hedgehugs."
Skills- We reviewed the letter "N" and the number "10". We reviewed the color pink and the shape of a heart.
What Can I Do?
Your child is capable of doing so much on their own, but they are used to adults doing things for them and then feel like they can't. Encourage your child to continue to practice their skills independently. Model for them and have them try something for you, such as putting on their own jacket. It might take a while at first to get them dressed to go outside but it'll be so worth it when they can do it by themselves. We practice what we preach and you'll see us encouraging your child to take their own boots off, put their feet in their shoes, use a fork or spoon (saying "No fingers"), and picking up toys.
We see all the hard work you are doing at home with them. Thank you for all that you do!

Sickness
We are cleaning a lot in our classroom as well. We sanitize the tables every day and we've recently just completed a big bout of cleaning all the toys and items in our room.
Closings and Delays
If your home district closes or delays, your child will also have a snow day or delay. Please contact First Student to determine when the bus will arrive for pick up.
If Gouverneur dismisses early, your child will also be dismissed early. I will again let you know through Remind.
If your home district dismisses early, but Gouverneur does not, your child will remain in school until 2:30. You are welcome to come and pick your child up though.
Dressing for the Weather
It can also be on the cooler side in our classroom so you might want to send in an extra sweatshirt for your child to keep here.
