Soon, we'll be looking at year end activities at Peace Arch which includes organizing for a successful startup in September. One of the biggest and important parts of this process involves placing students into classes for the new year in September.
The staff at Peace Arch takes a team approach to organizing classes, involving classroom teachers, learner support teachers, school counsellor, child care worker, support staff and school administration. No one person makes the decision as to what class children will be placed in. Parents sometimes write letters to the school administration for specific requests as to where they feel their child should be placed.
This year, we have shifted away from parent requests to school administration and encourage parents to talk to their child's classroom teacher if they have any concerns about placements in the fall. Please continue communicating with your child's classroom teacher as they would have the best and current information about your child's social and academic needs. We value parent input with this process and know we'll continue to work together to make 2024/2025 another great year for all students at Peace Arch.
