i Learn testing is upon us!
Parents this week we have been taking i Learn english language arts. On Tuesday, students in grades 3 through 8 will begin taking the i Learn testing. Please ensure that your students goes to bed at a reasonable time and they have a good breakfast. Remember that we offer breakfast here at school to all students.
Students also need to bring a set of headphones to use for iLearn. Parts of the iLearn test are read to the students and they will need to be able to hear what is being asked in order to answer the questions. These headphones need to have a cord to plug into the computer - airpod type headphones will not work with our computers.
Cinco de Mayo Tshirts
This year Central Catholic School will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Monday May 6 after school - more details to come.
We have designed a special tshirt for this occasion that students and families my purchase. Students will be able to wear these tshirts on Monday May 6th to school. An order form was sent home with your student today. Order forms and payment are due on Friday April 19th.

Choice Scholarships
We have begun processing Choice Scholarships - Thank you to those families that have brought in their taxes. Some of you should have been able to sign your paperwork at Student Led Conferences.
If you have filed your taxes please bring a copy into the school office so we may begin processing your scholarship for next school year. We would like to get most of your paperwork processed before the end of the school year.

Student and Family Handbook Reminders
1. We are not allowed to have cupcakes, cakes, or candy as a birthday treats. Central Catholic School is a universal free and reduced lunch school we have state guidelines we must follow.
Students my bring a small individual healthy snack - pretzels, fruit snacks, granola bars, etc. - for their classmates. (No drinks)
If cupcakes, cakes or candy is brought as a treat, they will be sent back home. I appreciate your support in following our handbook.
2. Students are not allowed to have artificial fingernails here at school. Per our handbook:
Additional Guidelines:
Shorts may be worn until Fall Break and again after Spring Break
Shorts and pants must be worn at the waist – no “sagging” styles
Girls may wear small earrings. Dangling or large hoop style earrings are not allowed.
Students may not wear makeup or artificial nails. The exception to this is 8th grade girls are allowed to have their nails done for May Crowning and will be allowed to keep nails through graduation.
No distracting hairstyles or unnatural hair color. Administration’s determination will be final.
Boys must be clean shaven.
Shirts should be tucked in at all times.
Only solid white t-shirts may be worn under uniform shirts.
Parents, please make sure that any piece of clothing a student may remove during the day is labeled with their name.
Administration reserves the right to determine if shoes or other clothing is appropriate.
Please ensure that your child does not have artificial fingernails. Students may wear fingernail polish.

Two Roncalli Exchange Students Seeking Host Family for 2024-2025 School Year
Roncalli will be hosting two female students from Spain next school year, and we're currently searching for host families for both girls. Valeria and Victoria will both be joining the junior class, so if you're interested at all in hosting, contact Allie Ross at aross@roncalli.org, and she can send you specific details about either student. Roncalli Raffling Off 2 Taylor Swift Concert Tickets!

The Counselor's Corner
News from the Counselor's Corner:
- Día del Niño at Be My Neighbor Day. Saturday, April 27 at Central Library. Families with young children are invited for a celebration of language and literacy! Activities include concerts, animal meet and greets, storytimes in English and Spanish, games, art, and more! Make sure to see Daniel Tiger. Free books and giveaways for every child!
2. Next food pantry day is April 9th. Please return you bag if you have not done so already.
3. Hello families, I wanted to remind you that we are having a special program for parents and students who are in 7th or 8th grade. Dr. Natalie Guerrero will be coming to school on April 17th at 6:00 PM to talk to parents about how to help their teens manage emotions. She will also tell you about a research project that gives a $50 gift card to the parent and teen who is 13 years or older for completing a questionnaire. You can do the research project that night if you choose. Please bring your teen and come learn more!

Substitutions may be made without notice. Students meals are provided at no cost under the Community Eligibility Provision. Lunch includes choices of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, protein and dairy.
