Principal's Message
Greeting families,
This week's newsletter is full of exciting information. After meeting with SBDM and PTO boards, we planned our campus tours and first PTO event.
I want to encourage you to become part of PTO to get involved with your children's school activities. The PTO fees will help the committee focus on its three pillars. The pillars are:
- Building a strong sense of community
- Supporting staff recognition and wellbeing
- Supporting student recognition and wellbeing
Our target is to have 100% membership.
Please read the PTO section for details about upcoming events and becoming school volunteers.
Also, I would like to announce our parent Facebook group. I encourage you to become part of this group to receive important updates from our parent organizations.
Next week, we will add a newsletter section highlighting our Biomedical/STEM curriculum and future projects.
As part of our UTSW partnership, the school will receive a visit from UTSW faculty in October. One of the visitors will be Dr. Michael Brown, who won a Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology. I will highlight them in the following weeks.
If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate and ask.
Thanks for choosing us!
Kind Regards,
Roberto Gonzalez

We are excited to announce that our PTO is up and running.
If you are still interested in running for any of the board positions, this week is the last week to nominate someone or yourself. If I do not receive any more nominations, I will send a form for you to accept the current members. If we get more, we will meet for elections.
All volunteers must follow the steps in the link below as soon as possible.
Please join our facebook group.

- Work orders to correct the Safety inspection findings have been submitted.
Please, email me if you need more details or want to share other suggestions.
Thanks for your patience as I ensure the students can safely play outside.
We will take students to the back of the building during recess for nature walks and games as suggested by SBDM.
September Attendance Awareness Month
September is Attendance Awareness Month, a time for individuals and organizations to learn about attendance issues, absenteeism, and the effects attendance can have on academic performance and success.
School attendance is essential to academic success, but too often students, parents, and schools don’t realize how quickly absences, excused or unexcused, can add up to academic trouble. Chronic absence— missing just 18 days per school year— can lead to third graders being unable to master reading, sixth graders failing courses, and ninth-graders dropping out of high school.
