EWRSD Weekly Update
June 21, 2024

June 21, 2024
Dear EWRSD Community:
As we reach the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year and begin to embrace the summer, I need to express my admiration and respect for the continued efforts and accomplishments of our amazing students. As superintendent, it has been tremendously rewarding and encouraging to witness a vibrant sense of connection, engagement, and achievement within each of our schools this year. This was most recently evident during the Class of 2024 graduation ceremony, which served as a significant milestone for this year’s 12th grade students, who successfully completed their educational journey in the East Windsor Regional School District. As these talented young adults transition to college, the military, trade school, or enter the workforce, their time as EWRSD students has provided them with an exemplary education and a collection of meaningful learning experiences and relationships that will contribute to a productive and fulfilling future.
In addition, I need to extend my continued appreciation to our very caring and dedicated teachers, educational staff, and administrators, who work diligently to educate the 5000+ children who walk through the doors of our elementary, middle, and high schools each day.
I would also like to acknowledge the important contributions of the following teams, whose roles support the well-being and education of our students: Business Office, Central Registration, Custodial, Food Service, Human Resources, Kidcare, Maintenance, Secretarial, Security, Technology, and Transportation. It truly takes a village to successfully support the educational needs of our students and I am grateful for our team of dedicated professionals.
Lastly, I offer my sincere gratitude to our parents and families. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and for your valued and much needed partnership. Whether your child is in Kindergarten or a graduating senior, your guidance, encouragement, and advocacy are key ingredients to their educational progress.
As we optimistically begin to look ahead to the possibilities of a new school year, the EWRSD will remain committed to placing the academic and social-emotional needs of children at the forefront of its decision making. I firmly believe that our students are the beneficiaries of our continued commitment and collective efforts.
Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable summer filled with opportunities to relax, reflect, reconnect, and renew!
Sincerely,
Mark Daniels
Superintendent of Schools

It's official! A high school graduate. On to the next chapter!
June 17 was the first ever Field Day for East Windsor Regional School District's preschool students! This special event provided an excellent opportunity for our young learners to engage in a variety of fun and interactive outdoor activities. During the Field Day, students had the chance to participate in several activity stations, including a pool noodle obstacle course, a bean bag toss, and a rubber ducky water scoop contest. Students also enjoyed an interactive and exciting bubble party hosted by "NJ Bubble Parties." Everyone seemed to have a blast!
HHS ESL Teachers and Students Create and Share Children's Stories
Our HHS ESL teachers recently completed an inspiring project with their Multilingual Learners (MLs) that highlights the creativity and dedication of both the students and educators. This project involved the students working in pairs to write and illustrate their own children's stories. This not only fostered their language skills but also their collaboration, storytelling, and artistic abilities.
After putting in a lot of effort to create these stories, the students took their project a step further. They coordinated a visit to the bilingual classrooms at WCB and EMK, where they had the opportunity to read their stories to younger students. This visit was a significant event, bringing joy and learning to the younger students while giving the MLs a chance to practice their English in a real-world setting.
The project was a tremendous success, showcasing the hard work of our students and the dedication of our ESL teachers. It provided an enriching experience for all involved and helped build a stronger community among the different schools. We are incredibly proud of our students for their creativity and initiative and grateful to our teachers for their guidance and support.
Thank you to everyone who made this project possible!
Our eighth-grade students have reached a significant milestone. Congratulations on your promotion to high school!
Hightstown High School held a celebratory luncheon recognizing seniors who made Honor Roll for all marking periods in four years. What an accomplishment!
On June 13, the Spanish National Honor Society held its Senior Cord Ceremony and end-of-year celebration at Hightstown High School. The event recognized the achievements of 27 seniors who received cords and certificates.
Mrs. Abdelaziz, the advisor for the Spanish National Honor Society, commenced the ceremony by extending a warm welcome to the students, parents, and friends in attendance. She then expressed gratitude for the presence of Mr. Daniels, the Superintendent, Mr. Soto, the Vice Principal, and Mr. Victor Fernandez, a prominent community leader from Hightstown.
Mr. Fernandez addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of serving the community and highlighting the importance of their contributions.
The ceremony recognized the hard work and dedication of the seniors and members, who have demonstrated excellence in their Spanish studies.
