Week of March 24

Texas Revolution at Travis
Travis Elementary first graders wrapped up their Texas Revolution unit with a fun and engaging hands-on experience. Principal Masini played the role of the "king" and attempted to tax the students for their recess time, mimicking the oppressive taxation that sparked the Texas Revolution. The students quickly grasped the historical significance of the event as they protested the unfair tax, just as the colonists had in the 1830s. This interactive lesson brought history to life and allowed the young learners to better understand the struggles that led to Texas' fight for independence, all while having fun and learning through play.

Vocal History
San Marcos Rattler singers made HISTORY this past week by earning the very first FIVE sweepstakes ratings in one school year! Also making history for the choir department - Our JV Tenor Bass Choir is the very first ensemble of its kind to receive sweepstakes- (all Superior “1”’s) in SMHS history. Our other choirs have earned such high scores in the past, but never at the junior varsity level! We are so proud of them!
