Message from Principal Haugens
Jog-A-Thon: A big thank you to Mrs. Klassman, the DuJardin PTO, and all volunteers and staff for making the 2022 Jog-A-Thon a success this past Friday. It was an awesome event!
Four-Day Weekend: We hope all students enjoy a four day weekend. There will be no school tomorrow and Monday. We have had a great start to October and we are looking forward to continued success at DuJardin. This could not be possible without the support of our parent community.
Cooler Temperatures: We have had some beautiful weather the past couple of weeks of school. As we move into cooler weather, please remind students to dress appropriately. We want students to feel comfortable when they are outside at recess. It might be a good idea to keep a sweatshirt or light jacket at school to put on for recess.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Parent-Teacher Conferences will occur between November 8th - December 2nd. Parents will have the opportunity to select In-Person Conferences or Virtual Conferences (Google Meets). A Parent-Teacher Conference flyer that includes links to teacher available dates & times will be emailed to parents on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 3:45 pm. All conferences will be 20 minutes in length. If you have any questions about conferences or need assistance, please contact the classroom teacher or DuJardin Office.
Halloween: Students will participate in an outdoor Halloween parade (weather permitting) and PTO classroom parties on Monday, October 31st. Students should bring their Halloween costume to school to change into before the parade & classroom parties. Students will not be able to go home during the lunch hour and change into their costumes. We expect students will be able to change into their costumes in the classroom. Please help students select a costume that can easily be placed on over the clothes they wear for school. Kindergarten students are able to wear their costumes to school. Parents are welcome to attend the outdoor parade during the times below:
-10:00 AM-10:15 AM Kindergarten Parade
-10:15 AM-11:15 AM Kindergarten Party
-2:00 PM-3:00 PM Kindergarten-5th Grade Party

Connection Card Survey: DuJardin administered a Connection Card Survey to all students, kindergarten - fifth grade during the week of September 26th. The questions on the survey included:
Do you have at least one friend?
Is there an adult in the building that you trust?
Do you feel like you belong?
What do you like about DuJardin? (2nd-5th grade)
What would make DuJardin better? (2nd-5th grade)
What would you like your classroom teacher or the school to know about you? (2nd-5th grade)
Below are results from the survey. Staff have started to review results and discuss ways we can improve and ensure DuJardin is a school where all students feel valued & appreciated.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or feedback. The best way to reach me would be via email or phone: phaugens@sd13.org or 630-894-9200.

Lead Like a Jaguar
At DuJardin, we want students to become leaders who model a positive attitude (growth mindset), set and achieve positive goals, understand and manage emotions, show empathy for others, and make responsible decisions (solve problems). Teachers will be using the Second Step curriculum & other resources to help ensure our students #LeadLikeJaguars.
Focus for October 11th - December 12th: Emotional Management: Students learn how to build their emotion vocabularies, practice identifying their own and others’ emotions, and recognize the importance of labeling and managing emotions.

Message from Nurse Mills
Please contact the nurse at lmills@sd13.org if your child suffers from allergies, asthma or any other health issue. We do have events where food may be available to students. The school needs to be aware of food allergies to prevent and respond to any reaction. Outdoor activities and physical events such as Jog-A-Thon can exacerbate allergies and asthma. Your communication will help us better support your children.
If you chose to have your child tested for COVID while here at school a NEW consent form for this year must be filled out. Consent Form for Minor
