Celebrating Black History Month
February is Black History Month. The national theme for this year is "African American and the Arts." Although we learn about Black/African American history throughout the year, we will highlight and connect with famous Black/African Americans by reflecting on their words daily during the month of February.
We LOVE our School Counselors!
Next week, 2/5-2/9, is National School Counseling Week!
Join us in celebrating Sarah Goss (Grades K & 5), Rachel Mizrahi (Grades 1 & 2), Brook Vess (Grades 3 & 4), and Megan Higgins (K-5)! They are the BEST school counseling team around!
International Angelman Day ~ 2/15 ~ Wear BLUE!
February 15th is International Angelman Day. Angelman Syndrome (AS) is a rare genetic disorder that affects around 1 in every 15,000 people. People with Angelman Syndrome learn differently than others; sometimes they may be unable to talk and have to communicate in other ways, sometimes they need help walking or doing other activities. AS is very rare and usually people haven’t heard of it until they are introduced to someone really special who has Angelman Syndrome. Not everyone is the same and our differences are what make us special and unique. One of our Mustangs, Luke, was born with Angelman Syndrome. While he may do things a little differently, he still loves to smile and make friends. Make sure if you see Luke around Moseley, you say hi! On February 15th, our school community is encouraged to wear blue in support of IAD and our friend, Luke!
Congratulations, Mrs. Tolson!
Way to go, Mrs. Tolson! Congratulations on being recognized with a Superintendent's Game Changer Award!
Grades 3-5 Winter SOL Growth Assessments in ParentVUE on 2/16
Beginning February 16th, you will be able to review certain test results from your student’s Winter Growth Test(s) via ParentVUE and also get additional detailed information from a VDOE parent portal.
- To view overall scores, log into ParentVUE and click the “Test History” tab.
- A more detailed breakdown of test results is available by using the Virginia Department of Education Parent Portal. Instructions for accessing this information are also included in your ParentVUE account. Click on the “Documents” tab for instructions and an individual claim code that will grant access to the VDOE parent portal.
Please keep in mind that VDOE Winter Growth Tests were only taken by students in grades 3-8 for reading and mathematics. Scores and the Parent Portal letter will only be available to students who took a Winter Growth Test. If you are unable to access ParentVUE, please contact our Registrar, Mrs. Jennifer Waugh, at jennifer_waugh@ccpsnet.net.
Gifted Referral Deadline for Grades K-1 ~ 3/1
The Office of Gifted Education opened the spring gifted evaluation window. This short testing window is designed for kindergarten and first grade students enrolled in CCPS only. If you are a parent of a K or 1st grade student and are interested in your child being evaluated to received gifted services, please have a conversation with your child's teacher. It is important to partner with your child's teacher, since they are involved in the evaluation process.
You will also need to complete the Online Gifted Referral Form to officially start the gifted evaluation process. The completion of this form is the only way for a parent to refer their child. The deadline to complete this referral is March 1, 2024. Throughout March and April, there are numerous assessments that will be completed. Results will not be available until the middle of May. If your child is found eligible, services would begin the following school year. As a reminder, this testing window is for students currently in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. All non-CCPS students and students in grades 2-12 are evaluated each fall. For more information regarding gifted education, please visit the CCPS division gifted page.

January and February only have indoor seating available. Outdoor seating will open back up in March. Thank you for only signing up for ONE visit per child during this timeframe to allow more families to participate. Your reservation includes seating for four (up to 3 visitors plus your student).
