A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
Thank you for joining us for parent-teacher conferences. Your insights into how your child is feeling and learning at home are incredibly valuable. This allows us to share how they engage at school—sometimes the experiences align, and other times they differ greatly. Collaborating with you to set goals for the third trimester helps ensure a successful path forward.
Our staff spent a productive day today focusing on literacy and enhancing our support for multilingual students. While we missed our students, we gained valuable insights through collaboration with peers and experts in the literacy field.
With gratitude,
Beth Carmody
Mrs. Bonner's 2nd-grade class explored engineering in science this week by building towers out of notecards strong enough to support a hardcover book! This hands-on activity helped students understand how different materials have unique strengths and weaknesses.

Ivanhoe Village Update
Fremont School District 79 continues to advocate for our current taxpayers in relation to the forthcoming Ivanhoe Village development. The District is hoping to reach a fair and reasonable impact fee agreement with the developers. Another negotiation session is scheduled for the week of March 10. Help us urge the Village of Mundelein to slow down the process for approving a development plan. There is no need to rush to an arbitrary deadline to approve a plan for such a monumental project. Our community deserves transparency to understand the full impact of this development for our schools, our taxpayers, traffic, environmental concerns, and more. The next meeting of the Village of Mundelein Board of Trustees is Monday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Village Hall. To learn more, please see our Frequently Asked Questions document.
2025-2026 School Year Registration Now Open
Spread The Love
Many families in our Fremont community need much more than food. There are some items that can’t be bought with Food Stamps, so we would like to help supply them to make things a little easier in addition to some food items. Please see the attached list for donation suggestions. Donations can be brought to school. There will be a table in the front hallway. Donations are due by: Friday, March 14th
Kids Heart Challenge
We have been learning jump roping skills in PE class the last several weeks and along with that participating in the Kids Heart Challenge put on by the American Heart Association. We have been raising money to help the cause and combat heart disease. To date Fremont Elementary has already raised $17,329 which exceeds our $15,500 goal. That is amazing. There is still time to donate as we can accept donations until March 18th. Click on this link to register. Remember donating is completely optional and all students are participating in the Kids Heart Challenge regardless of donating or not.
Any questions can be directed to our PE teachers Mr. Bonner (jbonner@fsd79.org) and Mrs. Spino (jspino@fsd79.org).

Take the 5Essentials Parent Survey!
Fremont School District 79 greatly values your feedback as it relates to your student’s educational experience. Once again, the State of Illinois has partnered with 5Essentials to create a forum by which you can provide your input. To date, we have the following parent participation rates:
Elementary School: 10%
Intermediate School: 9%
Middle School: 8%
We need at least a 20% participation rate for each of the schools to receive a report. Please help us reach this threshold! If you have not already done so, we would greatly appreciate it if you would take the brief survey by visiting: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
Your responses are vital for continuous improvement and long-range planning for your child's school. Parents are welcome to answer the survey for each of their children’s schools. The deadline to complete the survey is March 28, 2025.
