Marysville Message
April 19th, 2024
Dear Families,
Happy sunny Friday. Thank you to the Family Association for another wonderful popcorn Friday. It is always a favorite.
We have a lot to celebrate this week. Last Friday the Marysville Chess team came in 4th Place in the State Championship. Congratulations to Coach Morgan and the students from the team that represented Marysville; Viet, Fernando, Gabriel, Ari, Abel, Liam C., and Lyla.
This week Portland Public Schools honored art programs throughout the district at the HeArt of Portland Showcase at the Art Museum. 5th grade student Charles McGinnis had a visual arts piece displayed and 5th grade students Sonja Wagner and Paige Castillo were invited to be members of the Honor Choir.
Dance Franklin
Arts Alive is a spectacular collaboration from all four performing arts departments at Franklin High School (choir, band, theater, and dance). We invite you to come see a performance and take it all in: April 19, 20, 26, 27 @ 7:00. Multnomah County FY 2024 Budget Update: SUN Family Resource Navigator
This year there has been a staff person in our SUN Community School, called the Family Resource Navigator (FRN). They have helped parents and caregivers find resources to help pay for things like rent, utilities or food, and stay connected to school.
This position was created by Multnomah County, to help relieve stress and hardship during the pandemic, and was made possible by federal funds. This funding is running out June 30, 2023. Currently in the County budget process there is not additional funding identified to continue the SUN Family Resource Navigator position or Client Assistance funds.
You can find more about the County budget process and opportunities to engage at: https://www.multco.us/budget/learn-more-about-multnomah-county-budget-process-and-how-participate
We know COVID is still taking a toll, prices are still high, and many families are still in need of help finding assistance.
If you or someone you know is looking for resources you can call or email Bianca McIntosh 503-354-6150, or visit our Marysville website at https://www.pps.net/domain/141.
