News from Cruz
Hello Bearkat Families!
Did you know that we have over 115 Danielson Staff Members who serve our Bearkats every day? It truly takes a village to keep our campus running and to provide a top notch educational experience for all students. Has there been a staff member who has made a meaningful impact on your child’s education or school experience? We would love to hear about it! If a teacher, staff member, or administrator has gone above and beyond to support, inspire, or encourage your child, please take a moment to share your appreciation. Your kind words mean so much and help us recognize the incredible dedication of our team. You can submit your staff shout-out here.
🎉Thank you for helping us celebrate the amazing staff who make a difference every day!🎉
Finally, please read the information from our school nurse, Matthew Lowery, below. We have seen a very high number of illnesses across campus. Our district has very clear guidelines on when to keep your child home due to certain illnesses. We really appreciate your help with this!
Have a beautiful weekend,
🧡💙Dr. Cruz
Clinic Update
Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. We have had a large number of contagious illnesses affecting our campus since returning from Christmas break. Specifically influenza A which is highly contagious. Just adding a friendly reminder of our 24 hour protocol to keep our students and staff safe. Please review the protocol and if you have any questions please reach out to me. Thank you and have a blessed day.
LISD recognizes the importance of partnering with parents/guardians to ensure a healthy environment for all our students and staff. By sending your child to school, you are attesting that your child has a very low risk of carrying or spreading any disease. A student who has a fever of 100.0 Fahrenheit or above, vomiting or diarrhea will need to stay home until the listed symptom(s) have resolved for twenty-four (24) hours without the use of medications. If your child has been prescribed antibiotics by a physician for their illness, he/she must be on the antibiotic for a 24 hour period before returning to school. Refer to Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Rule §97.7 for more detailed information.

Important 8th Grade Information: Credit Recovery Hours Owed
For students enrolled in high school courses, attendance requirements are especially critical as they directly impact course credit. It is essential that these hours are made up promptly to ensure students remain on track for earning credit.
Any hours beyond 18—whether excused or unexcused—will count as hours owed. Rebecca Harrison, our attendance clerk, can verify your student’s attendance records.
All hours owed for the fall semester must be completed by April 4th in order for students to receive credit for the fall term. Please pick up a copy of the credit recovery tracking sheet in the front office.
Students can make up attendance hours through the following options:
- Completing community service, either on or off campus
- Attending morning, after-school, or lunch tutorials
- Participating in Saturday school
We appreciate your support in ensuring your student meets the attendance requirements. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Moore, 8th grade assistant principal or Rebecca Harrison, attendance clerk.
Thank you for your cooperation!

8th Grade Transition Information for High School
Greetings 8th grade parents!
Your 8th grader took part in the initial phase of planning for their high school courses before the break. Each class got to build a four year plan of courses based on their interests through the program Naviance. We want to provide you with a timeline of events that will be taking place including the final course selection dates for your future high schooler. These are student events only. Any parent events for high school students will be communicated by their zoned school. All courses will be registered for through Naviance, so you can ask your student to show you what they have planned already!
We look forward to helping your student through this process.
If your 8th Grade Bearkat will attend Glenn High School, check out their future student events!
Request from the Front Office
We have had an increase in the number of meals and Starbucks drinks being dropped off for students at times that are not their lunch times. We are not able to track down students to deliver these items to them outside of their lunch time. With around 1200 students, we just can't guarantee that the food and drinks parents drop off early in the morning or late in the afternoon will make it to your Bearkat. Please save these extra treats for home and only drop off what is essential for their lunch during their lunch period.
6th Grade Lunch: 11:19-11:49
7th Grade Lunch: 12:13-12:43
8th Grade Lunch: 1:07-1:37
