Dear Lange Middle School Families,
We are getting into November as it is the time of year when we start to prepare for the cooler days. The first Interim Progress Report (IPR) was sent home. It is great to have our teachers and parents working together to help students reach the academic results they are striving to achieve. As we continue moving through this year we need your support as we help students focus on getting their classwork and homework done (academics), attend school at a rate of at least 90% (attendance), and model respectful, responsible and safe behavior while at school (attitude). We believe students are more likely to be successful if they excel in these three areas.
Therefore, we encourage parents and guardians to stay actively involved by checking grades and attendance on home access and talk to your student about their Kickboard account, which is representative of their classroom behavior. The behaviors students display at school will help them gain the skills to be successful as they get to the next level of their educational journey.
Your student’s education is a partnership between home and school. We therefore invite you
to attend our Parent/Teacher Conferences scheduled for:
November 11th 3:00 - 6:30 PM
November 14th 3:00 - 6:30 PM
The Conference format offers two nights where parents meet with teachers for a brief update
on their student’s progress. Conference appointments will last no longer than 15 minutes.
Conferences encourage home-school linkages and help support children’s learning when:
– Parents and teachers engage in dialog about the student’s learning and development on a
regular basis.
– Parents and teachers are willing to listen and learn from each other.
– Parents and teachers come to the conference prepared to ask questions and share
information that will benefit the student.
Each team (6A, 6B, 7A, 7B, 8th Grade) will be offering scheduled appointments that will last 15
minutes each. In order to meet as many parents on a team as possible, parents will only meet
with ONE team teacher. This teacher will communicate with the other team teachers any
concerns you have and will also share commentary from the other three teachers during your
scheduled conference. The team teacher will be contacting parents to set-up conferences.
Elective teachers will be available for walk-in or scheduled appointments. If you would like to
schedule an appointment, please email your child’s elective teachers.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Please check our website regularly to stay updated on all the activities taking place here at Lange Middle School. The more you become involved the better connected you and your child will become with our school. Encourage your child to join one of our clubs or try out for an athletic team. During the adolescent years this is a huge factor in students’ level of success. Together we can help all our students achieve success. Thank you for being great supporters of Lange Middle School. Everyone at Lange Middle School is looking forward to a productive and rewarding 2024-2025 school year as we work with your child and family. We appreciate your continued support of our students and staff as we engage in the difficult work of meeting the needs of EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY!
With Leopard Pride,
Dr. Falls

Parent Letter
Dear Lange Family,
This year school staff are working to teach students about mental health and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. We are using a program called SOS Signs of Suicide. The program teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help.
SOS has been used by thousands of schools for over 20 years. Studies have shown that it effectively teaches students about depression and suicide while reducing the number of students’ self-reported suicide attempts.
Through the program, students learn:
that depression is treatable, so they are encouraged to seek help
how to identify depression and potential suicide risk in themselves or a friend
to ACT (Acknowledge, Care and Tell a trusted adult) if concerned about themselves or a friend
who they can turn to at school for help
Students will watch age-appropriate video clips and participate in a guided discussion about depression, suicide, and what to do if they are concerned about a friend. At the end of class, students will complete an exit slip which asks whether they would like to talk to an adult about any concerns. School staff will conduct brief meetings with any student asking to talk.
We encourage you to visit www.mindwise.org/parents for information on warning signs for youth suicide, useful resources, and some of the key messages students will learn.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s participation in this program please contact us, LMS Counselors at 573-214-3250, Monday-Friday, 7:30-2:35 pm.

Athletics & Activities
At Lange Middle School we want to make sure that every student has a chance to participate in something. Research has shown that those students that get involved in school activities or school sports do better in school and end up being more successful in life.
For all Grade Levels we have a wide range of things from Music Activities like Band, Orchestra, and Choir to Theatrical Arts and Quiz Bowl. There are also many clubs that you will find out about.
Intramural Sports in the Winter are only for 6th graders. Intramural basketball will start in mid-January.
Competitive Sports in the Winter are only for 7th and 8th graders. Sports are Cheer and Basketball. (Cheer and Basketball teams have a limited number of spots available so depending on the numbers they could have true Try Outs with possible cuts)
Before any student athlete can come to a practice, they will need to have all of these forms filled out and signed by the Guardian and student: Athletic Physical filled out and signed by a doctor (unless you had one completed last year), the MSHSAA Pre Participation Annual Requirement form (All Sports & Activities will need to fill this out including Music Activities), and the District Athletic Commitment form.
There are many medical clinics that offer cheap Athletic Physicals, just make sure the doctor signs and dates them. There is also the Scholar Clinic that Student Athletes can go to get Physicals:
These can all be found on the District Athletic web page:
Athletics / About Athletics in CPS (cpsk12.org)
In addition all Lange Middle School Student Athletes and Guardians must sign our: 2024-2025 Lange Middle School Minimum Behavior/Conduct Agreement Form for Leopard Athletics
We want our Student Athletes to have a culture of Winning in the Classroom, Hallways, and of course the Field/Court. Every Student Athlete will need to be a Role Model and Example for the other Students in the school.
Information for attending games and events:
- For the 2024-2025 school year, as of right now the athletic/activity admission for regular events will be:
o $3.00 for students

Entering and Exiting
- Students should arrive ready to learn each day in time to be in their classroom by 7:25AM.
- Once students arrive they should grab breakfast (optional) and go directly to their Period 1 class.
- Students will be supervised by teachers and other adults as they are leaving the building. They are expected to leave the building and go directly to their bus or car transportation for that day.
- Any students who want to go home with someone other than their assigned bus or guardian, they will need a pass from the main office before the end of the school day. We are asking parents/guardians to make arrangements for a different mode of transportation (if needed) before 2:00PM. This will give us time to get the pass to the student before the bell rings at 2:35PM.

Families/Guardians,
We hope your family is having a wonderful summer. We wanted to take this opportunity to send a remainder regarding our updated cell phone expectations for the 2024-2025 school year.

The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you buy from Casey’s and use their rewards program you can simply turn your points into a donation to our school.
Help LANGE MIDDLE SCHOOL make the most of this program and learn more at caseys.com/schools.

LANGE & GERBES COMMUNITY REWARDS
Earn Money for Lange Middle School PTSA when you use your Gerbes loyalty card!!!!
The Kroger Family of Companies is committed to community engagement, positive social impact and charitable giving at the national and local levels. Every community is unique, but our common goal is to partner with the neighborhoods we serve and help the people there live healthier lives.
One of the ways in which we do this is through our Gerbes Community Rewards program. This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link your Card to an organization, all you have to do is shop at Gerbes and swipe your Shopper’s Card. Here’s how it works:
1. Create a digital account.
A digital account is needed to participate in Gerbes Community Rewards. If you already have a digital account, simply link your Shopper’s Card to your account so that all transactions apply toward the organization you choose.
2. Link your Card to an organization.
Selecting the organization that you wish to support is as simple as updating the Gerbes Community Rewards selection on your digital account.
3. Sign in to your digital account.
4. Search for your organization here.
5. Enter the name (LANGE MIDDLE SCHOOL PTSA) or NPO number (UI506) of the organization you wish to support.
6. Select the appropriate organization from the list and click “Save”.
Your selected organization will also display in the Gerbes Community Rewards section of your account. If you need to review or revisit your organization, you can always do so under your Account details.
7. Your organization earns.
Any transactions moving forward using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. Gerbes donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending associated with all participating Gerbes Community Rewards organizations.
If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Service Center.
Whether you’re a customer or an organization, get started today!
Note: If you are a customer, make sure you have a preferred store selected (GERBES ON PARIS RD) to view participating organizations. If you are applying on behalf of an organization, please select a store in the same area as your organization.
