Another Successful Food Bank at Lister!
Lister Community School successfully hosted another fantastic food bank on Wednesday, 18th of December. We were delighted to serve over 50 families in need, providing them with essential food supplies and some festive treats, including toys for the children.
At the Lister New desk, we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this event, in particular, we want to highlight the work of Ms Akhtar. Without her work, the generosity and support of people collectively, which made a significant difference in the lives of many families within our community, would lack leadership and direction. Thank you, Ms Akhtar and all those who make up Lister's Food Bank team!
Stay Tuned for the Next Food Bank!
Please keep an eye out for details regarding our next food bank event, which will be held in February. We encourage everyone to continue supporting this vital community initiative.
Together, we can make a difference!

Behaviour in the Autumn Term
At Lister Community School, the behaviour system is designed to reward positive behaviour with 'Praises' and academic effort, while 'Concerns' serve as a clear indication that certain behaviours are unacceptable and need to be addressed. As you know, we aim for excellence - as part of that aim we reward students who have shown excellent behaviour with movie nights and trips. We will continue with that aim through the next term.
Earning Praises:
- Reinforces Positive Behaviour: Credits are awarded for demonstrating positive behaviours such as good attendance, punctuality, excellent work ethic, and active participation in school activities.
- Motivates Students: The accumulation of praises can lead to rewards, creating a positive incentive for students to aim for excellence.
- Fosters a Positive School Climate: By recognising and rewarding positive behaviours, the behaviour system helps to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
Receiving Concerns:
- Addresses Unacceptable Behaviour: Concerns are issued for behaviours that disrupt the learning environment, such as disrespect towards teachers or peers, bullying, and violating school rules.
- Provides Guidance: Concerns serve as a clear message that certain behaviours are unacceptable and need to be corrected.
- Prevents Escalation: By addressing issues early on, warnings can help prevent minor infractions from escalating into more serious disciplinary actions when concerns are received.
In Summary:
The behaviour system and the use of warnings work together to create a balanced approach to behaviour management at Lister Community School. By rewarding positive behaviours and addressing unacceptable ones, the school aims to foster a positive and productive learning environment for all students.
