MEA Heights Magazine Submissions
Hello, young artists at MEA. If you are looking to publish your work in a magazine, this is the place for you. Heights is MEA's literary magazine that offers a platform for young artists to amplify their voices and share their work. We are accepting submissions of original work for our spring issue now. There is no theme this year, so feel free to submit written, digital, and artistic work about anything. Just something to keep in mind, people of all ages will have access to each issue, and though we want people's content to be true to their original intent, we do ask that you keep in mind the level of maturity of your work so all readers can appreciate it! Heights is a magazine that publishes lots of mediums, so feel free to submit your photography, sketches, paintings (pictures of them), and any other visual medium! Your work will featured in our issues on the Heights website.
The submission deadline is May 6th! Please submit your works here.

FAFSA Opt Out Form
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) determines a pupil’s eligibility for financial aid to assist with a pupil’s attendance at a college or career school. California Education Code (CEC) § 51225.7 requires a local educational agency to confirm each 12th grade pupil’s completion and submission of a FAFSA or CADAA unless the pupil is determined to be exempt or an opt-out form is completed by a pupil who is a legally emancipated minor, a pupil who is 18 years or older, a legal guardian, or parent, or a local educational agency on a pupil’s behalf.
This opt-out form permits a pupil to opt out of the completion of a FAFSA or CADAA form.

Academics
Leader in Me - Habit 8
For month 9, our school's focus is the 8th Habit: Find Your Voice and inspire others to find theirs. It is about fulfillment, passionate execution and significant contribution.
Voice is our unique personal significance which lies at the nexus of talent (natural gifts and strength), passion (things that naturally energizes, excites, motivates and inspires us), need (including what the world needs enough to pay us for), and conscience (that still, small voice within that assures us of what is right and prompts us to do it).
When we engage in work that taps our talent and fuels our passion – that rises out of a great need in the world that we feel drawn by conscience to meet – therein lies our voice, our calling, our soul’s code. - Stephen R. Covey
