Evaluation Question Four
Blogger
Exactly like last year I have used Blogger as a place to document the work I have done throughout the year, Blogger is great because it lets you embed technology, such as; Youtube videos, photos, GIFs, links to other websites and much more. On my blog there is progress for my trailer and both ancillary tasks, ranging from the research from Youtube and Google to my own finished pieces. This year I have a more detailed blog than previous, I have included much more social media feedback; I decided to do this because it allowed me to reach a much wider audience than just those in my class / college. I chose to use social media because of how many people are a part of it.
Photoshop
I have used Photoshop for my ancillary tasks, I found this much easier this year due to my experience; this meant that I got better work done in a quicker time than previously. In comparison to last year my work is much better because I knew how to use lighting better, choose a better picture to edit, as well as having more knowledge. Having more knowledge was useful because it meant I knew, for example about different brushes, which helped when adding clouds to my poster. Not only did I create my poster and magazine using Photoshop I made my production logo which you see in my trailer on Photoshop,
iMovie
I used iMovie to create my trailer, this is the first time I have used this software so I was learning whilst creating my trailer. I felt like I picked it up quickly, for example learning how to detach audio and then add sound from elsewhere, or how to add transitions, these skills came rather easily. To start me and my partner inserted all of our footage and then chose the best clips, which we then had to cut down, then edit the sound and import sound from elsewhere.
Garageband
As sound was a shared role when creating the trailer both me and my partner worked together and discussed what sound we thought would work best. When using Garageband I found it quite easy to get started and find what I was looking for, I like how much range there is in Garageband, A lot of the sound in the trailer is found from here, for example the siren at the end, which makes the audience think when they hear it because the trailer then ends and they don't have an answer.
PowerPoint
I have used PowerPoint to make some documents during my research and planning, particularly in the early stages I used it to make my pitch and proposal, I decided to use PowerPoint because it is rather easy to use and looks good. I like the fact that I can put them onto Slideshare and embed them.
Slideshare
Slideshare is a website which allows you to put PowerPoints onto it then from there I can embed them into Blogger where they can be viewed from my blog without going to another website. I used Slideshare in my previous year so I already had an understanding of how it worked.
Prezi
Prezi is another way of creating presentations but is all online rather than creating them on PowerPoint then into Slideshare so it is much easier to put into my blog than a PowerPoint but I used both so I had a range of technology on my blog. I used Prezi when making my character profiles, similar to PowerPoint and Slideshare I have used this last year so when it came to making the presentations I had better knowledge and knew what to do.
Word
I used Word for my research and planning, I used it to make the production documents such as location recces, shooting schedules and risk assessments which are all important when planning to create a trailer / make the poster and magazine. I have used Word many times before in the past so getting to know the software wasn't an issue.
Canon 1100D SLR camera
Cinematography was my role in creating the making of the trailer and this is the camera I used to film my trailer, as well as take the pictures for my ancillary tasks. I used the same camera last year so I knew how to use it already, much better than I did last year so my camera shots look a lot better and I knew how to focus the camera for the best quality. My research into other magazines, posters and trailers was also very useful because it helped me understand hat shots to use and what effect they had on the audience.
The internet
I used the internet throughout the research and planning and evaluation throughout both years of my course. It is where I find all of my research because I use Google and Youtube, as well as using it to document my work (which was on Blogger). The internet is also great with helping to get audience feedback, because it allows you to use social media to reach your audience which is good because of how many people use it, another site which I used in my first year is Poll Junkie I used this to create a poll and embed it into my blog but the reply rate wasn't good enough so this year I just used social media which was much better.
