From Your Principal
Good Afternoon Buena Vista Parents,
I hope you are all doing well. As we all return from a much needed spring break I want to remind you that attendance counts for your child. We have seen an large uptick in chronic absenteeism (more than 10% of the school year) since schools reopened after the pandemic. A majority of these do not appear illness related. I would like to remind you how important it is to build important habits into your child's learning and that includes attending school regularly. If you are having trouble and could use support getting your student to school everyday, please do not hesitate to reach out and I will help however I can.
State Testing (CAASPP)
Our third, fourth and fifth grade students will be participating in our California State Testing the Week of April 22nd-April 26th for English Language Arts and Math . In addition, 5th graders will be taking a science test on May 2nd and 3rd. You can find more information regarding the assessment linked here. You can help prepare at home by making sure your child gets a good night's rest and good breakfast before arriving to school on time. I am so proud of the learning our students are doing and can't wait to see their progress.
BV Jamboree
Our Buena Vista PTA's annual BV Jamboree is coming on April 20th. Save the Date!

Buena Vista Parent Ambassadors (Still looking!)
We are preparing for a new group of TK and Kinder students to join Buena vista in the 24/25 school year. On April 15th we will host a parent information night and we are looking for current Buena Vista parents to join us. We are hoping to support families that are new to the area (or the country!) become acclimated and involved community members. We want families to make healthy connections within our community and be comfortable asking questions and learning how they, too, are a part of their child's educational team.
If you are interested in becoming a Parent Ambassador, please fill out this form.
DELAC Meeting: 4/25
Please join us for our last DELAC (District English Language Advisory Committee) meeting on Thursday, April 25th. This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. It's a great day to be a Bulldog!
Respectfully,
Angela Gramlick
