Cypress Springs High School
April 2025
Dear Cypress Springs Families,
We are nearing the concluding weeks of the school year. We have had many ups and a few downs. I want to challenge you to continue to have a "Glass Half Full" perspective. Thank you to all of you who have reached out to support our scholars - academically, personally, and socially. We are all better when we stick together! I need to ask you for your support in some key areas:
- Academics
- We are entering testing season. Our scholars need to be laser focused on their school work. The bulk of our EOC testing is measured by the success of our Freshman Class on the English I, Biology, and Algebra EOC tests. 10th graders will take the English II EOC and 11th Graders will take the US History EOC. Remind your scholar to take some time each night to review what they have learned in class. ASK them to tell you ONE THING they learned at school in these areas. I promise, it will make a difference in their performance.
- Our 10th -12th graders will also take AP Exams and their Dual Credit final exams for college credit. Their hard work now will save you both money in the future. Time management and study skills will go a long way for these scholars.
- School Safety and Support
- We are beginning to have crossing guards after school to help with safety as our scholars crossing the street. Please be patient and work with us as we continue to improve upon the safety of our scholars after school.
- We are also piloting a WATCH DOG DAD program. There is a link below for dads, uncles, grandads, and interested men to receive more information.
- Attendance
- We have successfully improved our attendance by at least 1% each grading period this school year. As we near the end of the school year, our numbers are dropping and many students are arriving late. Please help us to improve our attendance rate - students cannot learn if they miss out on instructional time. Typically, if you are present AND on time, you will find success in the classroom.
- Communication
- Read our newsletter... follow us on Facebook, Instagram and X. If you want to know about and share the good news about OUR school, you will find it on these outlets. Anything we post or print, you can share. Don't allow others to create a narrative about our campus that does not include all the great and positive activities that take place.
- Rest
- Many of our scholars arrive to school tired and anxious. We have been challenging them to put down their phones and go to bed by 10pm during the week. Research shows that young minds need to rest for at least 8 hours each night. I know this is a challenge for many adults as well, but together, let's try it and watch our attendance, mental health and academic performance soar.
Finally, our scholars are not unlike others their age. Everyone makes mistakes - the key is what do we do AFTER a mistake? How do we recover? How do we improve? No child (or adult) is perfect... our responsibility is to be here to help make our children better, help them after they make a mistake, and help to usher them into a successful adult life. Thank you for partnering with our school to make sure ALL of our scholars are successful!
Don't talk about it... Be about it.... and NEVER Give up! Be a Blessing!

School Essentials
Dismissal and Safety Guidelines
Students not remaining after school for tutorials or other sanctioned events need to leave campus and go directly home.
Please do not allow students to congregate or wait for rides at our neighboring businesses across the street. Students should be picked up in the circle driveway in the front of the school.
Please help us keep all our scholars safe by following these important safety guidelines.
Afternoon Pickup
If you are picking up your scholar after school all pick ups take place from the front circle drive. Please do not use either of the front parking lots to pick up your scholar.
Please be aware that due to staff and student parking, as well as pedestrian traffic, driving for pickups and drop-offs in the parking lot can be very unsafe. Please drive safely!
