Superintendent Community Update

Superintendent's Message
Dear JUHSD Community,
Welcome back! I hope each of you had a restful spring break. As we return to campus, there's a special energy in the air—a mix of accomplishment, anticipation, and celebration as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
This is always a meaningful time, filled with events and milestones that bring us together and highlight the incredible achievements of our students, staff, and families. From concerts and showcases to athletic competitions, awards nights, and promotions, every gathering is a reflection of the hard work and dedication that define our district.
I want to give a special shout-out to the Class of 2025—our soon-to-be graduates! As you prepare to close this chapter and look ahead to the next, we are excited to celebrate all that you've accomplished and all that’s to come. We look forward to honoring you throughout these final months of high school.
Let’s make the most of these last weeks together—cheering each other on, showing up for one another, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Warm Regards,
Toni Presta

JUHSD Summer School 2025
Information for the District's 2025 Summer School Program is here!
We are proud to announce a number of learning pathways to support your students and their learning experiences here at JUHSD. To learn more about course offerings and the summer school registration process, please take a look here (Spanish Version, and Tagalog Version). The location is at Westmoor High School, and the first day of summer school is June 4, 2025.
Parents and Guardians, please note that:
Students who are in need of meeting graduation requirements will be identified by the school counselors, and they will communicate with both students and you about enrolling into the summer school.
Students can also complete the summer school registration process at Westmoor front office with the drop-in counseling during June 2 - June 6, 2025 from 8:30am to 1:30pm.
Students who are interested in taking the acceleration/enrichment courses (Math course 3, Spanish 1, and a CTE class) will need to submit an application through this link.
Returning this summer, Monday through Friday, June 5 to July 12 (excluding June 19 and July 4), the District Food Services Department will serve a free meal to current JUHSD students, one meal per student, from the Westmoor High School Cafeteria, Edgemont Drive side of the campus, 10:30-11:00 am. For additional information, please contact District Director of Food Services Danielle Sweeters, (650) 550-7961.

Celebrating Culture at Island Fiesta
Westmoor Barkada hosted another vibrant and meaningful Island Fiesta, transforming the Westmoor Theater lobby with a stunning Legacy Wall, an engaging Island Fiesta Museum, and a lively photobooth experience. The event brought together students, families, and community members to celebrate culture, creativity, and connection. Special thanks to the dedicated vendors, talented performers, student volunteers, and club advisors Mr. TV and Ms. Urquico for making the event such a success.
Terra Nova High School
Food, Friends, and Culture: A Warm Welcome for the Polynesian Club!
What better way to welcome a new club than with good food and great company? On April 2, tTerra Nova Wellness Counselors, Mr. Noah Marsh and Ms. Mika Sasaki, organized a joint potluck in the Art Room to introduce the Polynesian Club to the TN community.
Members of the Asian Club, Black Student Union (BSU), Latin X Club, and Polynesian Club came together to share delicious dishes, each representing a piece of their culture. It was a fun and tasty way to get to know each other while celebrating the diverse backgrounds that make Terra Nova special.
Advisers Ms. Scarbrough (BSU), Ms. Gutierrez (Asian Club), and Mr. Venegas (Latin X Club) joined in, along with Mr. Vargas and Ms. Christensen, to help give the Polynesian Club a warm TN welcome.
A big thank you to everyone who participated—here’s to more food, friendships, and cultural celebrations in the future!
