Principal's Message
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Hay Lakes! As we are into our third week of school, I just want to take some time once again to let all parents and guardians know that we are so happy to have you and your families as part of our community. As we move into the year, know that all of our teachers and school staff are here to do everything they can to support your children in their learning.
I would encourage all parents to come to our first School Council meeting that will be taking place on Thursday, September 26th at 7pm in the School Learning Commons (Library). We would love to have more parents come out to these meetings to hear what is going on in our school, and to be part of the conversation about how we can continue to make Hay Lakes School a great place for all.
As always, if there is ever anything you need, or if you have questions about the school or events that are going on at the school, we encourage you to reach out to the school office for information.
Here's to a great 2024-2025 school year!
-Mr. MacKenzie

There are several upcoming races including Bashaw on September 19th, Camrose on September 26th, and New Norway on October 10th. Permission forms are online now!

Terry Fox School Run
On Friday, October 4, 2024, students will be participating in the annual Terry Fox School Run. Our fundraising goal this year is $13.00 per student. That's $1 for each province and territory. If we meet our school goal of $1200 the students will receive a frozen treat to enjoy.
Parents and siblings are welcome to join us for the walk/run.
To donate, please follow this link.
School Council Meeting
Our first School (Parent) Council Meeting will be taking place on Thursday, September 26th at 7pm in the school Learning Commons (Library). We'd love to see lots of parents there!
Not sure about what type of commitment you can give? You can do as much or as little as you want with our School Council. While volunteering for events is greatly appreciated, even if parents are able to attend our meetings that happen once every two months, we would love to have you there with us!
Updating Your Child's Information
In past years, as a school we used to send home a paper copy of the registration form to be updated for all students. This process is now done through PowerSchool Portal, and is important to update every year.
To access this information, you must use a web browser, not the PowerSchool App. All parents have access to the portal through our website, and click here to find it. Once in the portal, you need to look for the "School Engage" icon on the left hand side. All parents have a username, which would follow this structure: firstname.lastname. If you've forgotten your password, you can request one from there.
You should have received an email in early August asking you to update your information. This is a very important process as it gives you the opportunity to update your contact information, emergency contacts, and many other things. It also asks you to sign forms for Acceptable Use of Technology and to indicate your FOIP preferences for your child(ren). This forms must be completed by the end of September. If they are not complete, we will be reaching out to remind parents, but we may have to limit internet access to students if these forms are not complete.
If you need assistance completing these forms, please contact the office.
