Our Learning Community...
Thank you to our PTA for hosting such a fun BINGO night! We appreciate all of the efforts that go on behind the scenes to make these opportunities possible!
As the end of 2024 quickly approaches, it is a wonderful time to reflect on all the growth, learning, and achievements of the year so far. Together, we have embraced challenges, celebrated successes, and continued to build a thriving, supportive school community.
These last two weeks before Winter Break are an important opportunity to reinforce key habits that help students finish strong: staying focused, staying positive, and staying connected. Here is how we can work together to make the most of this time...
- Focus on Goals: Encourage your child to talk to you about their goals, ones they have achieved and ones they are still working towards.
- Celebrate Success: Take a moment as a family to celebrate the hard work and growth your child has shown this year. Recognizing their effort builds confidence and motivation.
- Stay Engaged: Attendance and participation are key! Every day counts as we wrap up the year with exciting learning opportunities and special activities.
- Kindness Matters: The holiday season is a great time to focus on kindness. Encourage your child to spread positivity and gratitude within their classroom and community.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
Reminder:
- Don't forget this Monday afternoon is our 4th & 5th grade Instrumental Music Concert. Check out the flyer below for all the details!
- Also, Friday is our first Achievement Awards Ceremony of the year. If your child is being recognized for their Achievement in the classroom or for Excellent Attendance an invitation was sent home to you. There will be two more Achievement Awards Ceremonies later this year.
Coach Jensen's Corner...
This school year is flying by, and we have already learned so much in PE. Physical Education is where we learn to move and move to learn. Our Jones students are developing motor skills across a variety of environments. Motor skills are a foundational part of child development and support the movements of everyday life. We begin PE class with a warmup then move on to a skill with an activity that includes practicing that skill. For example, a simple tag game works on moving safely within boundaries without bumping into others as well as fleeing and chasing.
We also work on motor skills in dance class. Our dance class is new this year and we are having a fabulous time learning new dance styles and the cultures they come from. So far, we have tried Latin, Native American, and Contemporary dances as well as dances from India. We have even dabbled a little in pop culture dances like the Cha Cha Slide, the Bye Bye Bye dance, Thriller and Spooky Scary Skeleton. Next up is the Macarena and once we learn it, we will add it to our IMPACT rotation. IMPACT is an exercise program our students participate in two days a week that works on improving our strength, flexibility, endurance, and agility.
I’m looking forward to sharing more with you soon. Until then, stay active.
~Coach Jensen
