The Native American Education Program of Fargo and West Fargo Public Schools advocates for Native American students’ success in school while providing cultural opportunity connections for students and families.

The Native American Education Program is funded by the Title VI Grant. We need your help by filling out the 506 form and sending it back to our office. The collection of these forms determine the amount of funding our program receives. This funding allows us to provide services and cultural opportunities for our students and families. It is not mandatory for all students to utilize our program services however, by filling out an eligibility form, the whole program benefits.

Title VI requires:

1. Student is enrolled in a federally recognized tribe

2. And/or the student’s grandparent or parent is enrolled in a federally recognized tribe.

INSTEM is for North Dakota Native American Students in grades k-12 to increase awareness and interest in STEM careers. This INSTEM provides students the opportunity to live and study on a college campus. The application closes April 15th, 2024.

We have received our Shrine Circus tickets. We will be giving tickets to our Fargo & West Fargo Native American Education Program families.

*Circus tickets will be on a first come first serve basis.

We will not be mailing out or putting tickets on hold.

Please make sure that you are using your tickets. Last year only 120 were used out of the 200 we received.

Positive Indian Parenting Program is a program for mothers using Native American approach.

Positive Indian Parenting is Native American parents at-risk or involved with their child(ren) removal from the home who are seeking to improve their parenting skills and obtain a certificate

of completion. PIP was designed to help parents and families develop and preserve their parenting skills, knowledge and cultural awareness of traditional practices that were once passed down through generations.

PIP includes two sessions over a four-week period:

• Traditional Parenting

• Lessons of the Storyteller

• Lessons of the Cradleboard

• Harmony in Child Rearing

• Traditional Behavior Management

• Lessons of Mother Nature

• Praise in Traditional Parenting

This is a parenting class for Mothers, that is culturally based to help strengthen Native American Families. Motherhood is Sacred is a Native American cultural approach to strengthen families by giving them the cultural responsible parenting skills they will be able to utilize.
