IN NOVEMBER WE BRING AWARENESS TO:
NOVEMBER was declared National Homeless Youth Awareness Month in 2007. Since then, November has been a time to acknowledge those children and families experiencing homelessness. As many as 2.5 million youth per year experience homelessness. Along with losing their home, community, friends, and routines as well as their sense of stability and safety, many homeless youth are also victims of trauma. While trying to survive on the streets, youth are exposed to countless dangers. If you'd like to volunteer, go to https://www.californiavolunteers.ca.gov/join-californiansforall/
IN NOVEMBER WE CELEBRATE....
National Sandwich Day
Celebrated annually on November 3rd, National Sandwich Day is one of our favorite holidays. The sandwich is believed to be the namesake of John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, following the claim that he invented the first ever sandwich. As one of America’s most popular lunch items, this day gives us a great reason to enjoy a sandwich.
Though the combination of bread filled with cheese and meats has been enjoyed for years prior, the creation and naming of the sandwich has been attributed to the 4th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu.
Happy Birthday Mickey Mouse
Mickey Mouse’s Birthday is an annual event that commemorates the creation of Mickey Mouse, the cheerful and adventurous cartoon character who has become a symbol of The Walt Disney Company. Mickey Mouse’s Birthday is celebrated on November 18th each year. Here are some ideas on how to celebrate:
- Watch Mickey Cartoons
- Bake Mickey-Themed Treats
- Visit a Park

Happy Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving Day is a day for people in the U.S. to give thanks for what they have. Families and friends get together for a meal, which traditionally includes a roast turkey, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, gravy, and pumpkin pie.
In some cities and towns, there are parades during the Thanksgiving weekend. In most areas, these festivities also mark the opening of the Christmas shopping season.
