News from Mrs. Fisher
Social Media
There has been a rise in social media usage causing disruptions at school. This is a reminder that even off-campus social media usage may lead to school discipline. Please read and consider the information below to take steps to keep your child safe.
- Monitor your child's phone and other devices. Check messages, history, and posts. Consider parental monitoring apps.
- Set limits: How long can your child be on social media? Which social media apps does your family approve of? I strongly urge parents to delete Snapchat from their child's devices, Snapchat is 13+, can be unsafe, and is frequently used to cyber-bully. If you have any questions about an app or it's appropriateness for your child, visit Common Sense Media. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/app-reviews
- Report harmful posts with screenshots or phots. If there are posts that are disruptive or harmful to you child being able to feel confident at school, please let me know.
- Social media behavior that impacts school will have consequences, which may include suspension.

6th Grade Orientation
I’d like to invite you to two different opportunities to familiarize yourself with Tuffree Middle School and all we have to offer. The first will be our 6th Grade Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, April 8th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Tuffree Middle School Multi-purpose Room. More specific information on that can be found below. I’d also like to invite you to attend our Open House on Tuesday, April 22rd at 6:00-7:00 p.m. There will be a PTA Association meeting in the quad at 5:45pm. Feel free to attend with the family and get an up close peak at what makes Tuffree Middle School great.
Sixth Grade Student Orientation:
Transition from elementary school to middle school is an exciting educational step for your student. As a first step to supporting this transition, 6th graders (who currently attend one of our feeder elementary schools) will be coming to our campus on Tuesday, April 8th from 9:00am-11:30am as a field trip. We want our new students to actually see and feel what it’s like to be a middle schooler. Your student will take a tour of the campus, learn what a typical day in middle school will look like, find out what elective opportunities are available, learn how to register for classes, and see what to expect in middle school. We will give your student an opportunity to meet current student leaders and to ask questions in small student groups.
Sixth Grade Parent Information Meeting:
The evening of April 8th, families will receive a parent version of the student presentation from earlier in the day. This presentation will also be emailed to all families. Included in this presentation is the fall 2025 registration process, including instructions on how to register for classes in Aeries.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events! We are excited to welcome you and your students to the Tuffree Family!
Enthusiastically,
Sarah Barton
Principal
