Happy Holidays
Dear CMIT South Elementary Families,
As we approach the holiday season and winter break, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your continued dedication to our school community. Your children's enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to learning continue to inspire us every day.
The past week has been absolutely magical at CMIT South Elementary! Our winter concert was a spectacular showcase of our scholars' incredible talents, beautifully orchestrated by our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Duncan. A special thank you goes to Mr. Duncan for his excellent sound production work. While we unfortunately weren't able to capture the audio recording of the concert to share with our community, the memories of those beautiful performances will stay with us.
I am overwhelmed by your generous response to our holiday-giving initiatives. Together, we collected over 140 canned goods that will be distributed to local homeless shelters and The Bowie Interfaith Pantry. Additionally, your kindness shone through in the collection of more than 100 toys for Clinton, Maryland Goodwill. These acts of giving are teaching our students valuable lessons about community service and compassion โ principles that align perfectly with the spirit of this season.
We were honored to have Mr. Ak, CLF Chief Executive Officer, join our recent PTO meeting. His comprehensive presentation on charter school finances, goals, and future plans for CMIT provided valuable insights into our school's direction. We deeply appreciate his commitment to CMIT South Elementary's success.
Important Action Required: FARM Application We kindly ask all families to review Mr. Ak's detailed letter regarding the Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FARM) Application. As he stated in the PTO meeting, this program is vital for our school community and impacts various aspects of our educational resources. Even if you think you may not qualify, completing the application helps support our school's funding and programs. Your Voice Matters! The CMIT South ES PTO is eager to hear from you! They have created a brief 14-question survey to better understand our parent community's needs, interests, and concerns. Your responses will help us:
- Improve our communication strategies
- Plan more effective activities and events
- Develop programs that better serve both parents and students

Mark Your Calendars for Our Open Houses!
We're excited to announce two upcoming open-house events that will showcase our wonderful CMIT community:
CMIT South Elementary Hybrid Open House
- Date: Tuesday, January 14, 2025
- Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
- Format: Hybrid (In-person and virtual options) Join us to explore our elementary school program and meet our dedicated staff! For those unable to attend in person, we'll provide a Zoom link on the day of the event to ensure everyone can participate.
CMIT South Middle/High School Virtual Open House
- Date: Thursday, January 9, 2025
- Time: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Format: Virtual We especially encourage our 5th-grade families to attend this informative session to learn about the middle school transition and 6th-grade expectations. This is a fantastic opportunity to understand the next step in your child's educational journey at CMIT.
