Friday, January 15, 2016- A Week in Review
Have a great 3 day weekend!
Don't forget coats! We go outside if it feels above 20 degrees, even if just for a few minutes. It is good for the kids to take a break and get some fresh air and exercise!
We have been learning about forces and friction. The kids will be doing an experiment with toy cars on Tuesday. I have toy cars at school but some of my scouts have derby cars that they asked to bring. If any student has a small toy car they want to bring to school on Tuesday, that is fine!
Here is our week in review:
Spelling/Word Work: *I can add a suffix to the end of a word to make a new word.
Reading: *I can identify the purpose of informational text. *I can use text features to preview informational text.
Writing: *I can write like a scientist. (Continued from last week)
Science/Social Studies: *I can plan and conduct a simple investigation to answer a question. (Our writing unit and Science unit are overlapping! We are reinforcing our scientific writing using investigations of force and motion.)
Math:* I can order and represent a set of numerical data. *I can interpret a data representation including a line plot. *I can describe important features of a set of data (mode and outlier). *I can compare ways of organizing data.
