South School Friday Updates

Happy Friday South Community! We had our first FIVE day week of the year and it was fantastic! As I walked through the classrooms, I saw engaging writing assignments, get to know you activities and hands on math/reading opportunities. Students are so excited to be back! We also had our first fire drill and photo day this week.

Two new staff members are introduced below and we have also added the October calendar so families are aware of what is coming up at the South School. I wanted to highlight our first early release of the year next Thursday at 12:20. We will also have Back to School Night that evening at 6pm. Please feel free to reach out to your students classroom teacher or the office with any questions. As a reminder, any change to dismissal procedures needs to be communicated with the office ahead of time, please copy the classroom teacher and Mrs. Fitzgerald (c_fitzgerald@stoughtonschools.org) with any changes. If a different adult will be picking up a student we need the name of the adult ahead of time (18 or older) and they need a photo ID with them. Please reach out with any questions!

Fins up, everyone! My name is Mrs. Matthies and I am so excited to be the new second grade teacher at South! I live in West Bridgewater with my husband, two daughters, and dog. I love riding roller coasters and eating ice cream. South Elementary is the perfect school for me because sharks are my favorite animal. This is going to be a FIN-tastic year!

FRIENDSHIP DIRECTORY

Make sure your Student is part of their Grade Level's Friendship Directory!

At the beginning of the school year, a form went home to families, in the PTO packet, with information about their grade level's Friendship Directory. If you have already completed the form and returned it to your student's teacher there is nothing more for you to do. But, if you haven't and would like for your student to be included, click on this link and complete the form: https://forms.gle/5o1Cw54fs5hQKTyw6. This online form will close on OCTOBER 1.

This is a great way to connect with other families, schedule meet-ups and distribute party invites!
