From Mr. Lucita
February here we come! We welcome in this month with several celebrations!
The Johnson Winter Guard opened their inaugural season with a spectacular performance at Akins High School. They placed 2nd in their division. This is the first step in developing an incredible guard program. Mr. Duffy and this group of freshmen and sophomores have set the bar high for the future and we can’t wait to see where they go! Take a look at the Jaguar Band Calendar for future contests!
Saturday was the UIL Solo & Ensemble contest which was held at Hays HS. The Jaguar Band sent 49 students to this contest and we had great results!! Of the 49 students sent, 30 of them earned the highest rating possible, SUPERIOR! Additionally, there were 10 Jaguars that earned the honor of advancing to the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest (TSSEC). These students will continue to work and improve their performance standard to the high highest level possible and will be evaluated at the University of Texas, Austin in May.
This coming week we see a regular week of sectionals, guard rehearsal, and percussion camps. We also wrap up the week with the Winter Guard competing in the TCGC Contest at Georgetown on Saturday, February 8th! Time TBA! It’s going to be a great week!
