Northview Familia,
Student Privacy Protocols and Resources
Recent changes to the sensitive locations policy have created some confusion and anxiety amongst many of our families and community members. I want to assure you that at Northview High School and Covina Valley Unified, we stand in unity with our students, families, and staff. Our superintendent, Dr. Elizabeth Eminhizer, reminded all community members of the following safety protocols that are in place in all of our schools:
A single point of public entry that requires all visitors, including law enforcement, to enter through the office at all preschool through grade 12 campuses, except Fairvalley, where security fencing is in the process of being installed.
Policies that prohibit the release of confidential student information, even to law enforcement, without the appropriate subpoena.
School office staff and administration follow protocols when law enforcement officials or outside agencies request to see a child or ask for confidential or personal student information.
Attendance Matters!
Northview's average daily attendance for the week was 93.3% for the week from 2/3 to 2/7 -- a 1.6% drop from last week and a 2.5% drop from the week before. Let’s keep striving for even better attendance as we approach the 100th day of school.

Vikingfest - 4/3
Save the date Vikings! This year's Vikingfest is already in the works with a 70's flair! You won't want to miss this.
This is a community event open to all of our future, current, and past Viking families and friends! We will have food, games, and student performances. This is also an excellent opportunity to hear from our staff and coaches on all that Northview has to offer through our academic and athletic programs.
Staff Spotlight
This week we are highlighting our amazing Assistant Principal, Mrs. Marissa Baker. Mrs. Baker started off as a science teacher here at Northview 13 years ago. In 2023 Mrs. Baker transitioned to the roll of our Assistant Principal and it has been a harmonious shift.
While Mrs. Baker misses instructional time with students, she intentionally carves out time to praise student accomplishments and success. Those connections she made in the classroom can still be seen when she is walking the campus interacting with students.
Being an administrator is a rewarding yet time consuming career. In her downtime, whether it be playing pool or watching old classics like Tombstone, she enjoys quality time with her husband and two kids. Mrs. Baker and her husband will be celebrating 20 years of marriage and that too is something to celebrate!
Thank you, Mrs. Baker for your contributions to the "The Gold Life, Good Life", here at The View.
