Do you know what happens in 11 school days?
CEC Graduation
We have made it to the last month of this school year. By far it will be the quickest one yet, especially for our seniors. Please make sure to look at the Important Dates section below. I cannot begin to thank you for sharing your child with us for their education. We feel blessed to have you all part of the CEC family.
I would like to thank you for all of the donations you have provided to help spoil our teachers next week. I appreciate your generosity.
Motherβs Day is celebrated differently from family to family but the spirit of the day remains the same. We honor that person we call βmomβ for being that special person in our lives that sticks with us through thick and thin. My best wishes to all for a Happy Motherβs Day.
Lastly, please make sure to log into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to check on your child's grades. Seniors must be finished with all class work by May 15th. Underclassmen must have all work turned in by May 17th.

Information on Finals
No Early Exams: Per district policy, there are no early exams and no exemptions are allowed for final exams. If a student is absent during the final exam, a grade of β0β will be entered for the final exam, and the semester grade calculated accordingly.
Make-ups: The make-up window is set for the first 10 instructional days of SY 2024-25. Once the final exam is complete, the teacher will grade the final and fill out a grade change form and return to the registrar. Students who know they will be missing any of the final exam days must have prior approval . Please see Mrs. Scaringelli.
Seniors: If you are a graduating senior that needs to take make-ups, these will need to be scheduled by June 10th. Any senior that does not take their final, will not be able to walk in our graduation ceremony.
Thank you, Mrs. Brown!
We are sad that we are saying goodbye to Mrs. Brown, but we want to wish her the very best on her next adventure in education. Mrs. Brown accepted a position as a Media Specialist Teacher with the Higley Unified School District. The love and knowledge she has with books will be so beneficial for her elementary students. Can't you just see her dressing up as one of the characters portrayed in a book or celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday? I am excited to hear what great things she brings to her new position. Good luck and have fun!
If you have not registered for CGCC classes for Fall '24, please see me as soon as possible. We want to make sure that we can get you into a class before you leave for the summer.
Summer School: Please make sure to pay for summer school as soon as possible. If you have questions, please see me.
Share concerns about your classmates or school safety.

A look to next year...
Change is hard...but inevitable. As a staff we looked into many things to assist our students and bring in help that was needed. Science is a class that many of our students struggle with online. To help our students in this core class, we are bringing in a full-time science teacher, Ms. Lori Heilner.
Professional: Ms. Heilner comes to us with 21 years of teaching experience, 13 years as science academic lead, has served as an assessment coordinator for AzSCI and has vast knowledge in grant writing to benefit her students. With all of her experience in science we are excited to see her develop a program to fit our student's needs. Ms. Heilner will be using a combination of in-person and online curriculum as we navigate through new courses at CEC.
Personal: Ms. Heilner is a huge Greenbay Packers fan. She enjoys hiking with her dog and spending quality time with her daughter.
Another addition to our faculty next year is Mrs. Brandi Rasmussen, English Teacher. We are excited to be able to have a staff member that works at both CEC and CGCC. Mrs. Rasmussen's English classes will be held in the mornings at CEC.
Professional: Over the last 12 years, Mrs. Rasmussen has worked with students in elementary, middle school, high school, and college. This has included ELA courses of almost every kind, including co-taught, Honors, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Dual Credit, Creative Writing, and Journalism/Digital Media.
Personal: When she is not actively learning something new, she is hanging out with her four kiddos, listening to music, traveling, reading, making another cup of coffee, and spending time with family and friends.

- Students are responsible for making arrangements to make up time missed, as that impacts student progress here at CEC more than any other factor. Please make sure to check Google classroom.
Unexcused Absences are considered truancies. the parent is notified whenever a student is absent. Work cannot be made-up for credit on unexcused absences.
Tardy to Class
- Students are expected to be seated in their classrooms ready to begin class work at the start of each period and immediately after all breaks and lunch.
- A tardy is defined as "not being in an assigned seat at the minute".
- Student's who have habitual tardies may be dropped from their class. If tardies are in first hour, student's schedules may be changed to add to a class later in the day.
- If your child is tardy, please call the front office to excuse them.
Consequences for Absences

- 13 absences is considered missing 1/3 of the curriculum. In-person classes will be dropped and student's will be placed in a lift lab equivalent.
