October Focus: Communication
For the month of October, Lovington High School's focus was on Communication. Communication means actively listening and demonstrating awareness, sensitivity, concern, and respect of other's feelings, opinions, experiences, and culture. Communication also means to articulate thoughts and ides, in a variety of forms and contexts, using oral, written, and nonverbal communication skills. This not only applies to students, but to the staff of Lovington High School as well.
Communication between players and coaches is essential not only on the field but off as well. Strong communication helps build trust, ensures everyone is on the same page, and fosters a sense of teamwork. Whether in practice, games, or daily life, open dialogue is key to achieving success together.
Ana Diaz Quintana demonstrates strong communication through self-advocacy. In the classroom, she actively seeks help when needed, asking questions and engaging with teachers to fully understand challenging material. Outside of academics, she confidently expresses her ideas with her friends ensuring her voice is heard. By advocating for herself, Ana not only improves her own experiences but also encourages her peers to communicate their needs, creating a supportive and open environment at LHS. Her actions highlight the importance of clear, purposeful communication
Congratulations to Ms. McCormick!!!!

Ms. McCormick has gone above and beyond to create a welcoming, engaging, and dynamic learning environment, inspiring students to achieve their best each day. We are so proud to have Ms. McCormick as part of our school community and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make in the years to come. Congratulations, Ms. McCormick!
LHS OPEP Pathway
This week, our Year Two Oilfield Pre-Employment Pathway (OPEP) students had an exciting opportunity to travel to Hobbs for a collaborative event with students from the Energy Pathways programs in Hobbs and Carlsbad. Together, they explored a mock oil and gas production site, where industry partners from Mewbourne Oil Company guided them through each piece of equipment. In addition, students were introduced to the PSP Energy Internship, a fantastic opportunity available to them this summer. This experience offered invaluable networking and hands-on learning opportunities that will serve these students well as they consider their future career.
