"Pioneering Pathways for Students Pursuing Medical Careers"
🩺Mrs. Brittany Emerson🩺
🩺Mrs. Staci Vander Schaaf🩺
Meet Brittany Emerson!
Brittany is married to her husband Dustin, and they have 3 beautiful daughters
named Teagan, Kinsey, and Cambri. The majority of the time they are running out the door for sports and other activities, but during their time at home they love to be outside fishing 🎣, riding bikes🚴🏻♂️, or hanging out with the chickens.🐔
Mrs. Emerson teaches a Pharmacy Technician Course
Health Science with Clinicals at UT Quitman
and Medical Terminology
She has been a teacher for 11 years, all of which have been in Quitman.
🎓"Teaching is/was not my career choice for life, but hearing students' success stories post-graduation is what keeps me coming back year after year!!!"🎓
"My entire goal of being a teacher is to help students determine whether they are meant to work in the medical field or not. I love exposing them to multiple healthcare careers and medical knowledge to help them find a career they can be passionate about. Our certifications offered are great ways to get their foot in the door of the medical field and most students use it as a stepping stone into their future career."
📊"We use data to determine student preparedness for their certification exams. Many of our certifications require the students to pass an approved program before sitting for their certification test. We have multiple assessments throughout the year which help us target individual student's topics of weakness that can be reviewed to increase their probability of success."📊
Meet Staci Vander Schaaf!
Staci is married to her husband Aaron who teaches art at Quitman High School. They have four daughters: Bonnie who attends college at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Sadie who is a Junior at QHS, Erin Faith who is in 8th grade, and Corrie who is a 5th grader.
Staci is a proud graduate of Quitman High School, class of 1997.
"I swore when I left Quitman that I would not be coming back, but I am proud to work in this district and raise my family in my home town with the people I love 💟!"
Mrs. Vander Schaaf teaches Principles of Health Science, Health Science, and Practicum of Health Science. She has worked for QISD for 7 years, and before taking on the role of teacher, was the JH/HS school nurse for 5 years. She attended college at Texas Tech University.
"My relationships with the students is what brought me to the classroom; teaching, encouraging, supporting and helping them through their high school years. I love the opportunity to help guide them towards a future career in the medical field and figure out more of who they are as a person and the potential that they have."
📈Similar to Mrs. Emerson, Mrs. Vander Schaaf also uses data to determine how prepared her students are for their certification exams. She has her students take multiple assessments throughout the year to determine how prepared they are throughout the year, and to also determine their areas of weakness.📉
