Pre-K - Classroom News
Mrs. Acosta - March 3rd, 2025
Last Friday, we hosted our much-anticipated Learning Fair, and it was a wonderful success! Parents and students had the chance to dive into our under-the-sea world, exploring all the creative projects our students worked so hard to create. For the past two weeks, our Pre-K students have been busy preparing, painting, crafting, and learning , all to make this a night to remember. I am so incredibly proud of each and every one of my students for their creativity, teamwork, and excitement.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended and supported their children’s hard work. Your presence made the night even more special, and we are so grateful for your involvement and encouragement.
This Week
This week in Pre-K, our Letter of the Week is W! It’s also Read Across America Week, so we’ll be celebrating with lots of reading, including some beloved Dr. Seuss books, along with many other classroom favorites.
In science, we will continue learning about teeth and dental hygiene, since we only briefly touched on the topic last week while we were busy preparing for our Learning Fair.
In math, we’re working on number bonds, addition, and subtraction.
For literacy, we will be learning about digraphs, those special letter pairs that work together to make one sound.
And of course, we’ll be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s Birthday with some extra fun activities throughout the week!

Last Week’s Highlight
Our Little Artists Shine
Last week, the kids had so much fun and worked incredibly hard to create beautiful art and crafts for our Learning Fair. It’s always amazing to see their creativity shine and to watch the joy they experience while bringing their ideas to life. They were so proud of their creations, and it was wonderful to see their excitement as they showed off their work to families.
Listening Like Reading Detectives!
This week, we played a fun and engaging phonics game to practice CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant words). On our magnetic board, we placed pictures that represent different CVC words. In the middle of the board, there was a spinner. Each student took a turn spinning the spinner, which landed on one of the pictures. Their challenge was to listen carefully to the sounds (phonemes) in the word and then write the word on the whiteboard, using their phonics skills to spell the word just by sounding it out!
I was so impressed with how well they did, their listening, sound blending, and spelling skills are really coming together. Best of all, they had so much fun playing this game and didn’t even realize how much they were learning!
Where Did the Children Go?
Before our big Learning Fair night, the kids got to have some pre-Learning Fair fun exploring our Under the Sea world! One of the highlights was crawling inside a giant shark tent, it felt like they were deep in the ocean on an underwater adventure!
They also had a blast exploring all the different sea creatures, decorations, and fun activities we set up to bring our ocean theme to life. It was the perfect way to get excited for the big night!
Take a Virtual Dive!
For families who couldn’t attend our Learning Fair, or for those who want to take another look at all the hard work and creativity that went into our Under the Sea world , I've put together a special video tour!
I hope you enjoy this glimpse into our classroom’s magical ocean adventure!
