This Week at Windsor...
#WEAREWINDSOR
February 9th, 2024
Windsor Families,
It was a great week at Windsor! Today our students participated in an assembly presented by Cozbi Cabrera. Cozbi Cabrera lives in Evanston, but was born in Brooklyn, NY to parents who were born in Honduras. She holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design. The multi-talented Cabrera creates and illustrates picture books for young readers. Her books have won several awards, including a Caldecott Honor and a Coretta Scott King Honor. She also works in textiles and her handmade dolls or "muñecas" are collected around the world. It was a wonderful assembly and our students learned a lot!
We are excited to share a link for you to purchase camp Windsor gear! Camp Windsor has been our theme this year that aligns to our monthly Den activities. If your child is interested in having new spirit wear, click here: www.windsorspiritwear.com
Parent-teacher conference links close Monday at noon. See below to sign up.
Windsor Drive drop and go: Please do not block the crosswalk when you enter the drop and go line on Windsor Drive. Also, if you walk to school, please wait for the crossing guard to cross you. It is very dangerous for all if you cross while the crossing guard is crossing others at a different corner.
Have a wonderful wildcat weekend,
Mrs. Anastacio and Mrs. Soprano

5Essentials - Important
5Essentials Survey | Click here to take it
If you have not already, please take a few minutes to complete the 5Essentials Survey. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at our school and guide improvement. A report will be generated only if we have 20 percent parent participation.

Kids Heart Challenge
Stella Station
Build a snowman indoors and have a little STEM challenge of your own at home with this Snowman Stretch project. Participants receive the same supplies, and their goal is to make their snowman stretch to be the highest of the bunch. You can add your own parameters on the activities as well, such as how many “balls of snow” the snowman should be, or by making the snowman all out of different types of geometric figures. Set a timer and let the fun begin! If your family does this challenge, I’d love to see pictures of your snowmen! Have a great weekend! ~Mrs. Stella

Food & Nutrition Services|Seasonal Menus
The Food & Nutrition Services Department is continually working to provide our students with lunch menu items that they enjoy, while providing a variety of nutritious options for our students. To achieve this, the department will be having seasonal menus this school year. All elementary and middle schools will have a Fall (8/17-11/17), Winter (11/27-2/14), Spring (2/20-5/31) Menu. Many of our favorite menu items will stay on the menu, however, this allows us to add some new products to our menus!
Our elementary and middle school students taste-tested a variety of new menu items this fall, and we have selected several of those items to be placed on the winter menu. We had quite a few items our students enjoyed, so some of the student-approved items will also be placed on the spring menu.
Updated menus will be posted on our website as well as on our app. Nutritional information can also be found on our website. We look forward to continuing to serve our students delicious and healthy lunch options.
Notes from the Nurse:
Dental Exams:
The time off from school during the holidays can be a good time for you to schedule your child's required dental exam. Students in kindergarten and 2nd grade are required to turn in a dental exam by May 15, 2024.
Please refer to this LINK for Illinois Department of Public Health informational materials regarding influenza, meningococcal disease and vaccinations.
Absences/Tardies:
Please also make every effort for your child to arrive at school on time. Missing the beginning of the school day often has a negative impact on students for the rest of the day. Please contact the office if your child will be tardy or needs to leave early!
Student Health: If your child has tested positive for COVID-19, you can notify the school nurse for guidance regarding how many days it is recommended to stay home (5 days with day 0 as onset of symptoms or test day if asymptomatic) per Illinois Department of Public Health.
