Dayton Memorial Library Update - ELEVATOR NOW WORKING!!
Archives and Digital Collections worked with Trudi Wright’s course FAM 499
Our Archives and Digital Collections worked with Trudi Wright’s course FAM 499: Senior Seminar in Music over the Spring semester.
The students did research in the David Goldstein Papers. Goldstein was a prolific composer and pediatrician who described himself as an “Apollonian,” due to Apollo being the god of medicine but also leading the muses, including the muse of music. Goldstein learned to play the tenor recorder and soon became a prominent recorder player. He began composing music for the recorder and the viol, primarily compositions for special occasions.
The students-- Alexandria Bernhardt, Ciara Corbett-Browne, Brennain Degenhardt, Kazimir Marczyk, and Keyen Vang--presented during Undergraduate Research week. They also created a new exhibit about their research in the Recorder Music section of the library on the third floor. Visit the new exhibit and see their work!
DML Archives & digital Collections Librarian receives recognition!
Hannah Miller, Archives and Digital Collections Department Head and Associate Professor, received the Jeanne Manford Award from the Queer Resources Alliance (QRA) at Lavender Graduation this Spring. The award goes to a Regis staff or faculty ally of the LGTQIA+ community who is a great role model for students and peers and who lives the spirit of QRA’s mission of creating an inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment for Regis University community members of all orientations and gender identities. She is being recognized for creating the Regis Inclusive Archives and specifically the LGBTQIA+ and Queer Experience Collection.
The Regis Inclusive Archives aims to dismantle the power structures that uphold dominant narratives while prioritizing histories of those in power. Instead, the program empowers community members to contribute their own narratives -- they determine how their story is told, preserved, and how it is accessed in the future. Hannah goes above and beyond to create a welcoming community through her service, education, leadership, and advocacy. We’re soooo proud of you, Hannah!
