CRUESD LCAP Annual Parent/Guardian Survey
Parent/Guardian Input Needed!
The Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities. Each school year we review the plan and make necessary changes and/or additions. We desperately need parent/guardian input as we determine current needs and priorities for our school district which will be used in planning the programs and services for the upcoming school year!
Please complete the survey to provide us with much needed input when planning the programs for the 2025-2026 school year! If you would rather complete the survey in a paper format give our office a call and we will send home a paper copy of the survey to you.

i-Ready Mid Year Achievement Awards
All of our K-8th grade students take an i-Ready diagnostic 3 times a year (Beginning, middle, and end of the year) to assess their academic achievement in both reading and math. The diagnostic provides teacher's with specific areas of growth and need for each student. Based on the beginning of the year diagnostic students are provided with an annual growth target to reach by the end of the school year. They then receive instruction within their classrooms on their grade level standards, as well as small group instruction and/or online instruction in i-Ready to meet their individual needs with the goal of reaching their annual growth target.
Our students completed the middle of the year diagnostic the last few weeks of January. The diagnostic shows that most of our students are not only on target to meet their annual growth rate by the end of the year, but have already met or surpassed their annual growth target. All students that have shown any growth will be receiving an award at the Monthly Awards Assembly on February 7th. Those that are on target for achieving their annual growth rate and/or have surpassed (** below) in either or both Reading and/or Math will be receiving an additional reward and will be going on a reward field trip.

Monthly Attendance Reminder
Every Day is a Great Day to Learn!
Teachers plan learning opportunities for every school day, and while completing work missed during absences is important, it is no substitute for the activities, interactions and rich conversations that occur during learning in the classroom.
Please keep in mind that if your student(s) is sick we ask that you keep him/her/them home to rest and get better. This will help your student get better more quickly, as well as limit the spread of illness.
Here is a great video regarding the importance of school attendance from the Shasta County Office of Education/Reach Higher Shasta: https://youtu.be/6Iq_OiQ8B4c
Superintendent's Message
Message from Leslie Rames
Our K-8th grade students have completed their mid-year i-Ready Assessments in both Reading and Math. It has been exciting to see all of the growth that our students have made so far this school year. We will be honoring all of our students K-8 that have shown growth on their Reading and/or Math i-Ready Mid-Year Assessment at our monthly awards assembly on Friday, February 7th. Family Invites to the awards assembly were sent home to all of our K-8th grade parents whose students showed growth on one or both of the assessments. We hope that all of our families of these students will be able to attend to show support of our students amazing growth so far this year. Also, please keep a look out as we will be sending home all of our student's i-Ready Assessment scores along with a flyer that provides information for parents about understanding their students assessment results.
At the top of the newsletter there is a flyer about the Great Kindness Challenge & Valentine's Spirit Week. The official national Great Kindness Challenge was held January 27-31, 2025. We at Castle Rock will be holding our Great Kindness Challenge on February 10-14, 2025. The Great Kindness Challenge provides a powerful tool that actively engages students, teachers, administrators, families, and communities in creating a culture of compassion, acceptance, unity, and respect. During the week our students will be given a checklist of kind actions and activities to do throughout the week at school and at home. In classrooms teachers will be teaching lessons on kindness and its impact on students themselves and others. Our hope is that the positive message students receive during the week will have an impact not just during the week, but long term. Please make sure to ask your students questions about the kindness activities that their class has done throughout the Great Kindness Challenge week. Also, it would be amazing if all of our students were able to participate in the Great Kindness Week Spirit Day wear given in the flyer.
Wishing everyone a kind and wonderful Valentine's Day!
