U.S. News and World Report
HTHS was recently ranked as #12 on the Alabama list of top High Schools. This is a move upward from #16 the previous year. This is thanks to the work done by the faculty and staff pushing AP through the A+ College Ready Grant.
With adding an additional 900 seats of AP for 2023-24, we are well on our way to climb the ranks and bust through the top 10! Keep up the great work!
HTHS Visitors - Circool Introductory Letter
Starting September 15th, when we invite parents, guardians, and community members to visit HTHS for events during the school day such as pep rallies, awards ceremonies, etc. we will use a new procedure. Visitors will need to register through an app called “Circool” pronounced “circle.”
This app allows to ensure every person coming onto campus for large format events are vetted in a timely manner. This will provide us with both safety and efficiency. Please take a moment to read the attached introductory letter. We will send more instructions on setting up your account. Our first event using Circool will be for the September 15th Pep Rally.
September 12 – Mock ACT for 9th, 10th, 11th / College Visit Day for Seniors
HTHS has been awarded a grant to administer the Mock ACT to 9th, 10th and 11th grade students on September 12th, 2023. In an effort to provide the most effective testing environment, all seniors are assigned this day as an extra college/career day.
Seniors are encouraged to apply to colleges and for scholarships from home, schedule an in-person college visit, job shadow or visit a military recruiter. Seniors will not come into school on September 12; they will be coded with an administrator approved absence.
PSAT - Last Day to Sign Up!
The PSAT is the preliminary SAT which is a practice test for 10th graders, and for 11th graders it is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The PSAT will be administered digitally for the first time this year, and is scheduled for October 3rd. The sign-up window end today, September 1st.
Please see the attached registration form that we must receive back in the counseling department. The school system pays for all juniors who sign up so we only need the registration form back for them.
For sophomores interested in signing up, there is an $18 fee. We need the form back with payment of cash or check attached, or the following link can be used to make payment… https://trussvilleal.csiepay.com/Views/Payment/Pay.aspx
The following link has resources for students who want to know what to expect on the digital test and links for practice.

CHECK-INS / CHECK-OUTS
Necessary check-ins or check-outs must be processed by the parent through the school’s office. The Board encourages that appointments not of a critical nature be scheduled for times and days when school is not in session. Check-ins/outs are considered excused for the same reasons as excused absences. Excessive check-ins and /or check-outs may result in a home visit by the TCS Student Services Representative.
Parents are encouraged to use caution when checking students out of school for unexcused reasons; students must attend school 51% of the school day’s minutes to be counted present for the entire day. Check outs/Ins count as minutes missed in the student’s school day and could possibly be attributed to an absence for the day. In addition, check ins/ outs are recorded on the attendance profile as subsections of tardy.
*Parents that have student drivers are encouraged to come and sign their child out of school or send a pre-signed note with them that should be turned in at the start of school.
