MARCH GUIDANCE LESSONS & UPDATES
I am wrapping up our kindness and empathy lessons throughout the building. My next round of lessons will be Growth Mindset/Positive Self-Talk for grades K-4th. A growth mindset describes the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore, students will put in extra time and effort which leads to higher achievement. In 5th grade, we will focus on the transition to middle school since we have completed our course selections with the PVMS counselors. In addition to changing schools, your child is entering adolescence, a stage when kids start to rely much more on peers and pull away from parents. This is a time when being part of a group is very important and being perceived as different can be devastating. It is not surprising that finding friends in the new school is a top priority. We will be answering questions to calm their nerves and thoughts about the transition to middle school.
Spur Ambassadors will be spending time with our Saginaw Seniors in March. They will perform a spring reader's theatre for them, provide desserts and fellowship, purchase art supplies and complete an art project with the proceeds from the hat & PJ days. We appreciate your support!
Kindness Club will be working on spreading kindness to our staff with some motivational quotes. I love their kind hearts and how they spread kindness throughout the building.

POP TABS
Ronald McDonald House Charities: a nonprofit family & children's charity dedicated to supporting families with sick children in their time of need. Little things can make a big difference. You can help support the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth by collecting the little tabs you pull to open soda, soup or other aluminum cans. The funds generated from recycling these aluminum gems help offset the House’s expenses. Collecting pop tabs is a great program that benefits the Ronald McDonald House families. Spur Ambassadors will be collecting pop tabs all year long. You may drop them off at the counselor’s office in the container marked for Ronald McDonald Pop Tabs.

Formerly, I was a 5th/4th-grade ELAR (English/Language Arts) teacher at Elkins Elementary. Previously, I taught for thirteen years in the Crowley Independent School District (Grades 2nd, 3rd, and 6th) and served as the department head for English/Language Arts and Social Studies. I have two beautiful children, a wonderful and supportive husband, and a fur baby named Rocco. My daughter is a recognized scholar and a graduate of The University of North Texas with a degree in Business Marketing and is a tattoo artist. My son is a sophomore at The University of Texas in Austin and continues to receive University Honors for his academic excellence, Hook 'Em! I enjoy traveling to Europe, the beach, shopping, walking Rocco, and trying new restaurants. I am looking forward to another great year at Comanche. Go, SPURS!!
