Go Gananda!
Several Gananda athletes were recognized by town supervisors Kim Leonard (Macedon) and Mike Donalty (Walworth) for their accomplishments during the fall and winter sports seasons.

You can read the full story and see the full list of honorees here.
Cafeteria Workers ๐
May 3 was School Lunch Hero Day but the cafeteria workers at Gananda certainly deserve our thanks more than one day every school year. Thank you for all you do in keeping our kids fed and healthy to maximize their learning potential!

Earth Day
May 1 was a busy day at the Middle School and the world is a cleaner place for it.
Students gathered in the afternoon to tackle a variety of projects, including an outdoor cleanup on school grounds. The final tally of trash collected included wrappers, plastic items, paper items and cans/bottles for pop and water.
Thank you to our Middle School students for the effort!

Warm Weather Itchies
Poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac
If your child is exposed, start preventive measures by:
Gently washing the affected area for several minutes in warm, soapy water.
Wash all clothes, shoes, and pets that may have come in contact with the plant; the oil can spread from clothes to other surfaces easily and quickly.
If your child does develop a rash, you can try these tips:
Apply a calming lotion, like calamine, three to four times a day to help the itch.
Drawing a cold bath or an oatmeal bath also may help to soothe the rash. Donโt scrub the area with soap because that often makes the skin itchier.
Try an oral antihistamine, such as diphenhydramine, to reduce the itch at night. Contact your physician first for dosing instructions.
Trimming your childโs nails might prevent scraping the skin and putting it at risk for infection.
Always contact your pediatrician should you have questions or concerns.
