DMS Miniboat Update
November 22, 2024
Congratulations Term 1 High Honors & Honors crew members 🎉
Well, we're back at it and our students who started this adventure as 5th and 6th graders are now 7th and 8th graders! With the start of the new year, the older students now have more opportunities. Congratulations to Oltina, Kolby, Victor, Jayce and David who are all representing our DMS Soccer teams this fall.
The DMS Cross Country team also has a few of our crew members chasing down the finish line. Congratulations to Zach, Lucas, and John who are all putting in the. miles this fall.
Anita visits Lockeport Regional High School in Nova Scotia
Google Meet with Lockeport HS students
Members of the Anita Crew and our Robotics Team met with some of the students from Lockeport HS on a Google Meet Friday afternoon. The students were able to ask some questions and check on any damages to Anita (thankfully there were none!).
During the SUBMERGED℠ Season, FIRST LEGO League teams will use creative thinking and LEGO® technology to explore the layers of the ocean and bring their learnings and ideas to the surface as they “sea” into the future.
Our team heads to WPI on December 7 to share their prototype and compete in the 2024/2025 tournament. Their project topic is tracking fish in the sunlight zone of the ocean.
When Anita was released this summer, a few drifters were sent out with her. These drifters are about the size of Anita's sensor box and are equipped with a camera. The robotics team has made a prototype of a drifter that can be sent down under the surface to photograph fish swimming underneath it. Check out their photos

This photo shows the board the Robotics team must navigate using their robot (shown in left corner). They have five minutes to complete the necessary tasks.
Relaunch Plan
We are in conversations with the faculty at Lockeport Regional High School to formulate a relaunch plan.
