MESSAGE FROM THE CCS ADMINISTRATION
Good Morning CCS Caregivers and Charlotte Residents,
Even though there is no school today, we wanted to share some important and timely information with our CCS community.
Fire safety
Members from Charlotte Fire and Rescue shared their roles in keeping our community safe and was a hit in our kindergarten through fourth-grade classrooms. These workshops allowed kids to see what a firefighter looks like when fully dressed in gear and a time to ask questions about procedures for staying safe at home. Some of the questions that came up included:
Where is a good meeting spot outside of the house if smoke detectors are going off?
How to call 911 if there isn’t a house phone?
How to escape a second floor room if there is danger in the stairway.
We want to encourage you to sit and talk through your child(ren)’s questions with them. Every home has its own unique circumstances and tools to stay safe.
Don't forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors since we will be Turning Back the Clocks on Sunday.
A Live-Streamed Event: CCS’ Next All-School Meeting is Nov. 8th @ 8:15 AM
On Friday morning of November 8th, CCS will host its monthly All-School Meeting. In focus, this month is a tradition where the current 8th-grade students welcome our new kindergarten students with a carnation ceremony. With 350 students in the multipurpose room and all CCS staff, we don’t have the space to physically invite you to join us, so we wanted to find a way to give you access while balancing privacy. Here’s our plan: the day before, we’ll share an email message and reminder on School Messenger with a link to the live stream. The link will be a ‘private link,’ so it will only be viewable by those who it is directly shared with and will not be searchable on the web. You can share it with family or friends, and we ask that no one posts it publicly. We’ll host the live stream and have the video archived at the same link for one week before deleting it. We hope you’ll join us for this new tradition of virtually inviting families to our monthly All-School Meetings! The meeting will start around 8:15 and last for about 30 minutes.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Jen
